Shark IQ vs Shark APEX UpLight

And I need to clean it once every 2-3 days. Researching into new options, during a black friday sale I came across Shark IQ robot; which promises to solve this issue with it’s self cleaning brush… With the price drop for the sale, I ordered it. It works fine, I really like the auto-empty feature and even though its mapping features are less than ideal it’s quite useful. However I still need to clean its “self-cleaning” brushes (again every 2-3 days)

Unfortunately, this vacuum has quite a few components that need regular cleaning. Also, while it feels decently well-built overall, its clear plastic dustbin does feel as if it could break if you were to drop it. Its hose is short, too, making it challenging to clean hard-to-reach areas, like high-up shelves, when using the vacuum in its semi-handheld configuration. I got this product to review in order for an honest review. I live in an apartment complex that still has carpet and the kitchen is tile floor. So it was a great way to test both out for this shark vacuum. The assemble was super easy

I use the Rocket with the wand section removed (floor head joined directly to the motor/dust cup unit) for the easiest handling. This is not an option with the Apex Uplight.

During the call, I was just baffled by the attitude of the customer service. Although "courteous", they are basically trying to bait you into saying that the problem occurred because you didn't maintain the unit correctly. (because then they are not liable for it) They would ask you "how often do you wash the filters" or "how do you wash the filters". If you answer "I didn't wash" or they conclude you washed improperly, they will basically turn it around on you

So, what ends up happening, is you end up spending a lot of time preorganizing the room (chairs on counters, everything off floor) to make its life easier, when I feel like once I do all that work it would be faster and easier to just get out the vacuum for two minutes. I don't feel like the robot has much suction and it's really noisy. So I like the idea, it's fine for a quick sweep after breakfast if the kids drop a bunch of crumbs, but it's no substitute for an actual vacuum.

It doesn’t have good suction., it will pick up a little larger items but clog, to empty you have to unhook bottom from top and then take the top part of vacuum to trash and such a hassle to make sure the large top is in the trash when u empty out or else it will make a mess. Cord is Manuel. Also has attachment that should fit on side of vacuum but the part is flimsy and doesn’t stay on

There is a filter underneath that needs to be cleaned out so often. I ran it twice a hour each time and I thought my floors weren't that dirty. Oh boy was I wrong! I love my Iron Man Robot, really don't know how I've lived life without it! The Shark brand is the best in this product!

Since it has a HEPA filter, this theoretically should be okay as it’s “clean” air. But if you’re sensitive, it’s still a problem. Plus I just don’t like it. Putting the motor lower on the stick closer to the base and further away from me would also solve this problem

Cords or coax cables should be off the floor or it may have a tough time and become stuck. It has gotten stuck on the edge of my homemade cat tree a couple of times 👀 but that's probably my fault in the construction. The more it works, the better map it seems to build, (AI?) and the less dirt it picks up, hum.

The attachments fit into a plastic clip that goes on the upright of the vacuum. It is a REALLY BAD DESIGN. The cord gets caught on the attachments when turning the vacuum and the attachments seem to always get knocked out of the clip if vacuuming near, or bumping, anything.

Good value for the price. The cord wrap is practical. Does well reaching under furniture and the conversion to handheld is easy enough.
