Fit

Sony didn’t change much, but it made the improvements we’ve been waiting for
Regardless, the 1000XM4s live up to the strong reputation that Sony has built and offer more powerful noise-canceling capabilities than ever before. If the company makes good on its multipoint fix, youre probably looking at the new top pick for noise-canceling headphones.

Noise Cancellation

How active noise cancellation for automotive works
RTings has tested most ANC headphones on the market and published their measurement (not gut feeling) results:. https://www.rtings.com/headphones/tests/isolation/noise-isol...Probably would get Sony WH-1000XM4 myself this time (they pause automatically when taken off). Have not personally used Bose ones since QC35, but some people like QC35 II better for long term use.

UA True Wireless Flash review: Excellent totally wireless sports earphones with only one flaw
The Flash's charging case (top) vs. the charging cases of the Anker SoundCore Liberty Air (left) and Apple AirPods (right). Sarah Tew/CNETYou might get slightly better call performance from Jabra's Elite 65t, which lists for the same price as this headphone, but overall The Flash worked well for making calls

Bluetooth Connectivity

Apple AirPods: iPhone accessory or the next big thing?
And that wasn't 10 years ago, i tested this less than 2 years ago.And even the whole pairing process is annoying. Best case scenario, you can just pair them using the standard bluetooth settings on your phone. Worst case, you have to deal with some custom app (that you have to install on your phone) and do the steps from there (looking at you, Sony; I love your WH-1000XM over the head line of headphones, but ffs this is just bad UX).

Price Point

AirPods Max: An Audiophile Review
I purchased the Sony WH-1000XM4 for $278, and the only thing I can complain about is that the name is hard to remember. The comfort, sound quality, and ANC is just right. The price is a bit higher than I would have preferred, but didnt find better choices at a cheaper price. On the other hand I cant see myself ever spending this much on headphones.

Comfort

Active noise cancellation is not for me
Got the Sony WH-1000XM4 after a long wait time before jumping on the ANC wagon. Have done probably 20 hours of flight time since then - unreal how much more enjoyable travel has been from lack of fatigue from noise and reduced volume, comfort of the actual product.Totally hear how it could also be detrimental for other people but for me its been amazing.
