I do have a Patagonia Black Hole Duffel, and while I like how durable it feels, the shoulder straps and harness system are trash in comparison to the Osprey Transporter duffel. I am doing a comparison of the two duffels to see which I will keep, and due to a shoulder injury, comfort and stability of the harness system are a priority.

I'm looking for a 30-35l backpack to use for daily commute by motorcycle and light travel.

 Since I'll be using it while commuting I'm looking for a durable and water-resistant bag. I don't want something that needs a cover to be water-resistant enough during light to medium rainfall. Preferably a bag that has a sternum strap, if there is a waist strap I'd prefer it to be detachable. I'm trying to get a pack that can hold gym clothes + shoes, towel, 15 inch laptop, mouse and keyboard, chargers, water bottle, headphones.

So far my favourite option is the Patagonia Black Hole 32, it seems to be a great size for what I intend to use the bag for, looks durable, solid company and the black hole line looks to be pretty popular with satisfied users. My only 'worries' are the accessibility of the laptop compartment for daily use and how water-resistant the zippers are.

Any other recommendations that would fit my needs are very welcomed or if you happen to have the black hole 32 or any of the other products from the black hole line I'd love to hear your experiences.

UPDATE: I ended up ordering the black ember forge. The expandability makes the bag so much more versatile which was important to me, the ability to hide the shoulder straps and carry the bag by the side handle makes it a better fit for my work environment, I really like the style of the bag but it doesn&#39;t make the bag less waterproof or durable and I can see myself using pretty much all of the compartments. Thank you everyone for your suggestions!

 This is a 15 year old version of the Patagonia Black Hole Duffle and you can see this bag

 This bag is where they still use PVC and it's just a simple zippered enclosure at the top.

 Things I really like about the Patagonia Black Hole Duffle.

 They're a very well designed adjustable shoulder strap.

 They do have a snap buckle or a click buckle to remove at least one side of them so you

 can quickly tuck them under the top lid.

 If you are traveling with this bag, the 60 liter is the size you want to use as your

 carry on bag and if you decide to check a bag in at the counter at the airport, the

 attendant at the counter frequently will ask you to remove the backpack straps because

 they'll get caught in their conveyor system.

 Having a buckle that allows you to quickly disconnect the backpack straps is a really

 What I like about the Namu Caragon Series with what they do with their backpack straps

 is they've got an external pocket on one side that the straps, you disconnect one side and

 I wish Patagonia would add that feature to their Black Hole Duffle bags.

 It would make them a much better bag for traveling with.

 Other features I like about this bag, padded carry handles on the sides.

 If you're using especially one of the larger size bags and you have a fair amount of weight

 in them, having a padded grab handle on the sides makes them much more comfortable to

 Contrast that with what the North Face did where they just took a single piece of webbing

 The grab handle at the top is also much more comfortable than what the North Face used

 There is one exterior pocket on these bags that's handy for travel once again so that

 you can access things like a book or electronic devices, plane tickets, etc.

 Some areas of it have been coated with a polyurethane.
