Carry-on

Thinktank Rotation 180 34L Backpack

(1/1)

For me, the 34L is plenty bag for my photo trips - and it fits in most overhead bins (check those regional flights ... smaller planes are always a challenge)

Timbuk2 Tuck Pack

This is especially true because, as we’ll discuss in detail later, your stuff will likely all fall to the bottom of the main compartment, making the overall carry flumpy. This flumpiness is one of the most annoying things about this bag.

You can also use the pouch on the left side of the bag. There is a strap on the side to secure the top of the tripod, lashing it to the side of the bag. Heavier tripods may skew weight distribution, though. Wide shoulder straps distribute the back weight and a padded, breathable back make the Rotation 34L Backpack comfortable

Timbuk2 Tuck Pack

Luckily, we’re fans of black backpacks as they tend to blend in with a crowd and don’t show stains easily.

Strap

Timbuk2 Tuck Pack

(1/1)

The lightweight straps getting uncomfortable carrying much weight make this a poor choice for long airport days. The deal breaker for me is no strap to slide it over a suitcase handle. I need a little more structure and a strap. But for others the above uses may make it worth owning

Timbuk2 Tuck Pack

To point out the obvious, these pockets are for your small accessories. Wireless headphones, keys (if they’re slim), dongles, a good luck charm, things of that nature.
