 It'S it's much more. You know just kind of uh fluid and squishy and the newer bag it's just firmer and has a better shape to it overall, so uh slightly slightly thicker, which means there's slightly more capacity in there all said and done. These are both 34 liter bags and i don't know why we measure bag capacity in liters - it's, i guess kind of, like we measure light and candle power, but anyway it's it's a good sized bag. This is the medium-sized bag of the rotation series

 They really are uh same height, really about the same width. The uh, you know the strapping is all good. The stitching is all good. All of those things are, the same

 You just want to get that gear quickly, take a couple of photos and continue with your hike. We'Ve talked about fit and finish and construction, a capacity of both the inner pouch, as well as the top part of the bag, the pouches and accesses on the side. Tripod mounts: what else can i tell you about this bag? There is, there is a custom rain cover and the custom part is important because that lets you have a rain cover that works with that rotation portion of the bag. So the cover will fit on there and still allow you to access that inner belt pack get to your most critical gear

 I just pulled the thing out: i'm leaving everything, as is i kind of leave the zippers open on the stashmaster when i have it in the bag. There is a safety strap here that connects across the top, so i wouldn't have this flap like open up. Surprisingly, on me and have any gear spill out, i can always zip it closed. If i want to another way, is to take out there's a foam insert inside the top part of this dash master

ThinkTank Rotation Backpack Review

 here. It's got the big Ykk zippers that are weather sealed and it's got this lip that goes over it so you don't have to worry about your gear getting wet or ruined. This bag is definitely going to protect it. if you want some extra protection

 You've got your sternum strap there as well, and then you've got your load straps here, which help pull the bag closer to your back. So when you've got it all dialed in with the waist belt and the shoulder straps, it's extremely comfortable. You're not going to feel the pain in your shoulders. It takes the load and sits it on your hips

 They do offer a rain jacket that's sold separately. I don't have that and I'm not really sure that you need it unless you're gonna really be beating this thing and have it out some heavy, heavy rain. But even then it's pretty water resistant so I wouldn't necessarily worry about that when it comes to comfort, this bag is designed really well. You've got three big panels here on the back that are cushioned

 Pretty heavy. Walked for hours, up and down beaches and trails in the woods and I never really felt it at all. So when it comes to comfort, this bag is really well designed and you're going to like it. Let's take a look at the exterior pockets and features

 This mesh is over a squishy green foam material, so we get some better breathability on this back panel and it's just a little more comfortable on the shoulder blades. With these two panels. It'S a full 10 point adjustable harness system. So, let's flip that over we've got of course, a little whistle on the sternum strap

 You know when i'm traveling with it somewhere on a day-to-day basis when i'm just out walking with one of these rotation packs. I don't need to use that zipper, and that means when you do get it out, and you want to access your camera much faster. Actually, just one-handed with these little tabs to pull the magnets open. Okay, so that's cool! That'S a nice addition to all of the rotation bags in this update in the top section here, just a little pocket again for batteries

 That'S not available with the 22 liter. What you can store for your camera gear is is all in the bottom here, so this top section here is just going to be for all your other day, hiking stuff, your outdoor gear, okay. So let's zip that up! Let'S flip it over now on the back here we can see another big change between this version of the rotation packs and the previous versions. So basically, what we have here is an adjustable torso length

I tried several other bags but continued to return the Porter. I switched to a Tom Bihn Synapse 25 for organizational features and smaller size. After \~5 years I sized up to a  Synik30 because several of my recent trips required a suit and outdoor hiking gear appropriate for nasty weather and sub-freezing temps.

How has your travel then one-bag set-up evolved? There was a thread in another post last week where people starting listing their bags from the first bag they “one-bagged” it with to their current. I thought it would interesting to expand this topic. What was the bag you were using when the lightbulb (or volcano of frustrated emotion) lit up and made you decide to one-bag? What was the first bag you one-bagged with? What has been your evolutionary steps down to your current bag? What bag do you have eyes on next or have you reach your ideal equilibrium?

In 2010 I was in hong kong pulling a large sierra roller board suitcase behind me which at best guess was about 60-70 liters, plus another sharper image carryon sized roller bag maybe 30 liters in size, I literally slid out of my sandals and found myself barefoot in 90+ degree temps and high humidity barefoot hauling a high percentage of my own body weight. After that I still bought yet ANOTHER roller bag while in Hong Kong, this time a four wheeler carry-on size. But once I got back to the US I quickly donated my sierra and sharper image bags, and the Hong Kong roller became my one-bag from 2010-2014. In 2014 I purchased a smaller sized hard-sided four wheeler bag from Samsonite, that was my one bag until 2016, its still being used today by my bf. In 2016 I discovered the joy of traveling with a backpack, an Osprey Porter 30. It was a nice introduction to the world of backpack travel, but too big for me and had a lot of unnecessary padding. In 2017 I went to Tom Bihn synapse 25, great bag but too much built in storage. I sold it in spring 2020 and am now using the Tentree Mobius, mostly in the 16L mode but I love the clamshell and ability to expand when I want to bring camping gear with me. No particular bags on the horizon for me, they just don’t make EXACTLY what I am looking for. That’s the thing about one-bagging for 10+ years, you KNOW what you want and don’t want.

Your Evolution with One-bagging

 You just have the one tum bin logo on the front and then down at the bottom. You have this nice loop, where you can attach something like a bike light and then moving into the capacity the bag comes in at about 25 litres, which is a really great minimal travel bag size. I really love the versatility of a 25 liter bag. It works great for minimal travel or for day-to-day, and I was very surprised with just how much I was able to fit in this bag

 For my own uses I needed a large main compartment. The Kitchen Sink had very similar stated dimensions as the Drifter II. The problem is, the bottom of the Kitchen Sink is large but it tapers up to a narrower opening at the top of the compartment. Adding to that, that the computer’s "front organizer panel" is inside the main compartment

.stuff. The side pockets are nice but they seem to push in more than expand out and, if used, reduce the size of the main compartment a bit. To cut this a little shorter, all of the smaller pockets seem to actually reduce the usability of the main compartment

 The one with both bags is of all the stuff I regularly put into my Drifter II for work.

) Even accessing my laptop from the main compartment is kind of a pain due to the material going over the top. I have to fold it back to slide out my laptop and normally this wouldn’t be an issue but if there’s anything in the main compartment, or if it’s full, you have to take stuff out just to get to your laptop or risk breaking it by using more force. #4 Again a usable space issue. The front pocket with the molded pockets seemed really cool at first but in reality (imo) it reduces the usable space of that pocket

Good bag but not for my needs

 It's also been on probably 50, 60, maybe 70 different trips with me, so it's been kind of all around the country. day in and day out carrying laptops Chargers water, snacks, all kinds of things so that I could give you a quick review of what I like and don't like about the bag. and I think this is an informed of you you know I didn't just get this shipped to me by Tom bad I bought it with my own money years ago I've used it everyday so hopefully this is a well-informed video. or at least you think what I have to say is credible when it comes to the bag itself

 One, it has a built-in laptop compartment so it gives you a little bit of added protections built into the bag itself. It has a removable frame that's built into the back of the bag and it gives it structure. Probably makes a little bit more comfortable to carry, maybe gives it a little bit of a greater ability to stand up. And then three, it has a luggage pass-through We can kind of route the handle on your rolling bag through it just to make it more friendly and useful if you're using it in conjunction with a rolling carry-on

Tom Bihn Synapse 25 Review after TWO YEARS of Everyday Carry

 I’ve given it 5 stars because I’m becoming more aware of its usefulness. I can carry everything I need with some room to spare. My only hope is that the zippers hold up. If the side zipper breaks, the bags is useless

 I have become dependent on the side zipper which allows quick access to my iPad. As such I’m hoping that the zipper holds up to constant use. The side zipper also quick access to laptop or iPad without having to open the somewhat cumbersome top opening. Consequently, I only open it when absolutely necessary

 But that means it's also more of a hassle for you to get inside. However, I really like the easy side-zipper access for the rear laptop pocket. My 13-inch MacBook Air slides in and out easily and quickly. The smaller front pocket where you're likely to keep pens, gum, and other supplies is under a flap that's not the easiest to open

The design of this pocket is a bit bizarre -- it's more shallow than I Like, and I'd rather have more inner zipped compartments than the stiff pockets that may or may not fit your gear.  My Kontigo water bottle fits snugly into either side pocket (maybe too snugly, so I'm getting a smaller water bottle that slides in and out more easily)

 I un-Velcro'd that sucker pretty quickly as I'm not hiking anytime soon. After reading how many customers have had the chest straps pop off during hikes, I inspected them to see why. They connect with tubular metal claps to thick ridges of strap stitching, and I can see how if they ever pop off they'll be a hassle to get back on. I don't use them for daily use and they dangle nicely out of my way

I can see this pack getting very heavy on a long trip but these thin fabric loops don't exactly inspire confidence they can carry the load

Great stylish bag with a few flaws

enough said...the only REAL thing that i would complain about is the skimpiness of the shoulder straps

..the straps aren't a deal-breaker, but they fall a little short of being comfortable, especially with a load of textbooks that i carry daily.

it's a joy to just inspect the construction details and marvel over ...

 Three brands of buckles for some reason - Duraflex, Nexus, and Woojin - all solid brands for plastic and metal hardware. EVA foam for comfort - there's a bunch of high density padding going on around this pack. And There's a Dry-Lex Aero-Spacer mesh upper backing - basically this is the mesh back panel that helps with comfort and breathability. Overall Some solid and durable materials coming together to make this pack really great
