Thule Paramount 2 vs Thule Subterra 30L

the typical stuff you'll see in, say, shower curtain liners, or cushion/mattress filling. It's certainly no dastardly paradichlorobenzene, but if you're concerned about these kinds of products and have a sensitivity to them, well, now you know. It's considered a "commuter bag", and I really appreciate how it gives you options to stow your stuff that will work in many different permutations, and far more safe and secure that in my Jansport where I just toss most everything in the main compartment! With the dozens of backpacks I've used over the years, a big challenge over time is when the nylon around the zipper compartments start to fray, or the interior nylon bunches up and gets caught on a zipper.

The build quality is excellent. If you want a light, rugged day pack for bike-commuting with nothing to snag you, this might be it. If you want it as a daily-use school bag, I would pass on this one, and go for one of Thule's ironically smaller (25L) "crossover" bags that seem to hold way more than this. One side of the backpack has a pocket for a water bottle while the other side has a zippered mesh pocket compartment with zippered mesh pocket and slip pocket. Access to the top-load main compartment is protected by a top flap that secures to the backpack via magnets and has a zippered compartment. The front of the backpack also has a secure magnetic flap closure and the back of the backpack also has a hidden zippered pocket. The device compartments and pockets are reinforced with padding and I feel my devices are well-protected

Shoulder straps were just super uncomfortable and I had to return it because wearing it with a laptop for an extended period of time hurt.

Maybe the shoulder straps could be a bit more reinforced and sturdier because if there is a failure point to this backpack, in my opinion it would be at the shoulder straps.

This review is for the 27L black version. This is not my first Thule backpack I've owned that's about this size. I have another one about 8 years old and after very consistent use, it only looks like it's about 1-2 years old. These Thule backpacks are built to last

" Both the 23L and the 30L can be deceiving. Look at the videos and see how they are held on the tables and how the 15" Mac has a long trip to hit the bottom of the laptop compartment. This bag was purchased after obsessive research, which I didn't intend on conducting. I bought this as the best option for a delta size personal item. I've flown multiple times with no issues on dimensions though I do not overpack. Organization in this bag for a tech head like myself is phenomenal

Very interesting materials that looks durable. Beautiful amber color for inner organizations. Nice shoulder straps - look comfortable One thing I don't like are zippers - they seem too small for such bag. My previous Osprey backpack had large that's were super easy to use
