Even though it's not heavy duty in construction and won't replace a Leatherman type multi-tool, but it's smaller and cheaper and does most things well.

In short, it's overbuilt for box cutting and package opening--but it will certainly handle those kinds of tasks. But for what it is, a rock-solid folder and a huge hunk of very sharp S35vn, it's a great knife. What this knife is not: it's not a toy. If you need a fidget toy, this is not your best choice

It appears to be bad stamping or sharpening techniques on the blades and the saw particularly, there are metal slivers around the saw blade and some hooks look slightly bent even. This just screams poor quality and makes me feel like this swiss army knife wont last long at all. I wish I would have paid more for a better one or that I looked more for a better quality knife. I don't know if these are refurbished knives or if their quality has just gone down, dissapointing none the less

The build is so so. The blade is so poorly ground and dull that I would not buy again. Extremely difficult to sharpen and get a good edge. Every other Recon 1 I've owned (this is my fifth) was razor sharp and perfect

The plastic handles protrude and are very sharp. The spacers in between the tools are also not finished very well and were very sharp. I had to sand them down with sandpaper and scotch brite pads. I guess nothing lasts forever

In my search I was looking for a knife with a light weight, low profile, and with a thinner blade for slicing, not a bush beast to baton and chisel with. I wanted a good steel, a 3 1/2" - 4" blade, and either G10 or micarta scales. The search lead me to purchase the Recon 1. My first impressions are as follows: 1) It's a well built, quality knife with great attention to detail

He gifted it to me for my birthday, and I love it dearly, but it’s a bulky monster. The Fieldmaster packs a saw, scissors, two blades, three screwdrivers, and a few other tools into a package that I can easily wrap my hand all the way around, let alone carry in my pocket next to other EDC gear. And none of the tools are gimmicky. They all can do what they claim to do
