 This Acer's resolution of 3840 by 1600 gives us a pixel density of 110 PPI the exact sweet spot. It has that perfect combination of size and usable resolution. 4k monitors sound great on paper, but most of the time it gives you a pixel density that's too high to comfortably use. And if you have to scale your image, then there really isn't a point to having such a high resolution display

 Oh, that brings us back to our original point, how we think this is close to being a perfect monitor along with all the other features mentioned. it's also great for gamers. It has a maximum refresh rate of 75 Hertz freesync and a 5 millisecond grade. A great response time, and that's the true 75 Hertz refresh rate even with free sync disabled and using an Nvidia graphics card, there's even an overdrive mode to try and get a slightly faster response time, but this may introduce artefacts depending on your monitor and video card

 Along with the regular preset modes like gaming and text, their detailed settings for white balance, gamma hue/saturation, and after calibrating with our spider for Elite using a 6500 K white point, we hit 100% Srgb color accuracy. And if you don't have a calibrator on hand, then don't worry since the default Srgb preset is pretty good. Backlight bleed is also very well controlled on our sample. Normally this can be a big issue with other curved ultra-wide monitors, but in our case we have very even black levels even in the corners

 I wanted lots of room, a crisp resolution, excellent image quality/colors/calibration, and fast response times + FreeSync and ideally >60 Hz refresh rates. I was on the fence between the Acer XR382CQK, the similar 38"/3840x1600 Dell U3818W and LG 38WK95C, and the 32"/3840x1600 BenQ PD3200U. The BenQ would have had a sharper image and super accurate color, but I'd just tried out a similar ViewSonic 32" monitor and found that I had to scale the text by 125% to make it readable. The BenQ is limited to 60Hz and has no FreeSync

 ♦ After calibration, colors are accurate and vibrant. ♦ The 75 Hz refresh rate is a major benefit over 60 Hz. 3D CAD models rotate more smoothly. Games play more slick as well

 One of the biggest selling points of this monitor IMHO. ♦ Response rates are excellent. No evidence of ghosting (unlike the 32" ViewSonic) and it does very well against the Blurbusters motion tests. Games play great

 I Like that. This is a gorgeous looking monitor. That's the first thing I Have to say in any use case scenario, while you're using the Acer XR 38 you're going to enjoy some really nice 500 I'm Ensign RGB So you've got some really nice color gamut and even if while you're surfing the web man and going through you know different sizes like say, Border Work which has a white background that can be annoying. sometimes it works out pretty well

 They give you the ability to go in, make changes, make it look and fit this feel. Now the response time is 5 milliseconds great. I Mean you're getting a really fast base experience, especially a game like doing where I mean you need all that you need that has much time as you can because the game is fast, the game is. You know it's really of course you've got a facility

AW3821DW what settings are you using?

Acer customer care struggles with basic common sense

For the price, this is (IMO) an unbeatable combination of colour accuracy and gaming performance. It is quite well reviewed, and seems to have the best backlight of the equivalent monitors using this same VA panel from Gigabyte, MSI, Xiaomi, and AOC (the gen2 VA panels IIRC), as this one reaches significantly higher brightness. My anecdotal impression is that it's damned near perfect for anyone looking for bang for the buck and who likes the ultrawide experience.

Anyone have any suggestions?  Accurate color reproduction is important here.

"Gaming" monitors that are also suitable for design work

Beautiful display in a terrible package

I've been using my wife's ultrawide for work and gaming the past couple weeks while taking care of our puppy while she's been recovering from some surgery and really really enjoy it. She's got a 3440x1400 LG 34WN80C-B. Pretty nice monitor, lack of freesync and only 60hz is a bummer though.

I finally want to get an ultrawide myself for work and gaming, but am having a hard time deciding. I want a 38 inch for the extra space to help replace my triple monitor setup. It's come down to these 2.

* Pros
 * Low input lag
 * Fast response time (according to Rtings, faster than the AW)
 * Gsync ultimate (which I think is what lowers the input lag compared to freesync?)
 * PIP + PBP
 * Better HDR than my current monitor (but not a huge deal to me since it's IPS)
 * 175hz overclockable, but I don't think I'd ever use it.
* Cons
 * Price: $1596.99
 * LG Quality and warranty
 * No local dimming (which is pretty normal for IPS I think?)
