 So first up We're looking at our idle temps right here for our CPU around 42 degrees Celsius our motherboards show in 36 degrees Celsius. We do have the tempered glass panel on so keep that in mind The case is fully enclosed so to speak now Let's go ahead Let's put the CPU under full load and check on the temps again So you can see our CPU is currently under 100% loaded It has been for over five minutes and I just actually saw a temperature drop So it appears we have peaked at 65 degrees Celsius. My first pc build. How did I do? All Corsair.

I left a 4 Star review as I don't want something that isn't a performance or reliability issue to skew the ratings of this product.  This is the second 5900X I have ordered in a week. The first one came in a box that was in pretty bad shape, that, I did not mind so much. Once I broke the seal and pulled out the CPU to check the pins, I noticed there was staining and scuffing on the lid of the CPU

Previously opened "New"?

 We know Z590 will, but not quite sure about those Z490 motherboards. For now though Intel looks to be out of the game at the high end, and I suspect things are only going to get worse for the blue team as we work down the Zen 3 product stack. The Ryzen 9 5900X really is a mighty good CPU, and for the 10900K to even be considered in my opinion, it would need to be priced no more than $500 US, though ideally less than that given the lack of PCIe 4.0

 And today we're checking out the slightly cut down version, the Ryzen 9 5900X. This is a 12-core 24-thread version, it's available for $550 US, and that makes the 5900X around 8% cheaper per core when compared to its bigger brother. Of course, AMD can get away with charging a premium for that 16-core model, given that it faces no real competition. That being the case, the 12-core 5900X is priced to compete with Intel's Core i9 10900K, their flagship 10-core processor, which is meant to retail for $530 US, though due to supply troubles it does typically retail for between $550 and $600 US

 For testing the AMD CPUs, the MSI X570 Godlike was used, along with 4 8GB G.Skill Triton Z DDR4 3200CL14 memory modules for a 32GB capacity, and then cooling all test systems is the Corsair IQ H150i Elite Caplex AIO. Finally, please note for all the productivity testing, we're using the GeForce RTX 2080Ti, but for all the gaming benchmarks, I've gone back and updated all of our numbers with the RTX 3090. I've also added some new games as well, so let's get into the graphs

I have a Dan Case A4-SFX which is pretty quiet, but I want more (less). I'd like to turn my build passive, silent and without moving parts. I'm willing to do whatever it takes basically, but I'd rather not replace any of the parts, except the PSU.

Turning my SFF PC silent, fanless and without moving parts

 However this made me aware of the limitations of having fewer cores in my system. So I decided to go for this beast of a cpu, doubling the number of cores in my system. I kept my expectations in check of course, double the cores does not mean "doubling performance". And to be quite frank, in terms of raw performance, it's actually not that much quicker in running normal tasks

So this is what it feels like :D

 That'S an 800 16 core 32 thread cpu. Now we're stepping down one tier to the 5900x, which is a 12 core 24 thread cpu priced at 550. This is a follow-up to the initial msrp 3900x, which was 500 at launch later became 400, and it's the direct competitor to the 10 900k. The 10900k was for the longest time about 500 to 520, 30 or so, and so now the 5900x comes in and competes not only in the production benchmarks, where the 3900x always did fine, but also potentially takes the gaming crown from intel

 Let'S get into the review we'll start with frequency validation, production benchmarks, because it is still a 12 core part and gaming to see if intel can hang on to the last couple of strongholds that it has. Frequency testing is up. First, we're validating the boosting behavior of the r9 5900x. For a few reasons, the main one is just to make sure the cpu is working as intended and advertised

 I know the 4th generation Zen CPUs from AMD are coming soon, but history tells to avoid the first release of any major new architecture and also that even mid-range models will be virtually impossible to come by at anything close to MSRP for at least 8 months, so I plan to use this 5900x for at least 3-5 years and will buy back in at maybe the Zen 5 or Zen 6 generation.  Does my 5900x run cooler than my 5800x? Yes, by around 5 degrees C when idle, though it can quickly rise to be just as warm when editing/converting video or really doing anything which taxes more than a couple of the cores. It reduces back down quickly, however, once the cores are no longer stressed.  There have been a handful of unexplainable system crashes while trying to tune the system BIOS (in the hopes of making the CPU actually run cooler, NOT trying to make it run faster)--I expected the first crash due to aggressive settings, but after backing off most of the way I had 2 more crashes

 Backed off a bit more and it's been running stable for the past 30 hours.  I am air cooling with a solid Noctua 90mm dual fan tower in a Phanteks mATX case.

Terrific performance

35 volts. I think that's pretty good, especially considering we're using an air cooler. So now on to testing here are the specs of both our amd system, as well as our intel system, they're, basically the same system. But besides borderlands, if we just went from a 3 900 um x to a 5900 x, we saw anywhere from an 8 to an 18 increase in gaming performance, which i think is pretty awesome

 As i said, overclocking was really easy. I felt like you, were able to push these chips just a little bit further, at least on our setup than we were with the 3000 series chips. But it's all the same. You can do it in the bios or with the ryzen master software um, and then it comes down to platform, and i think you have to you still have to talk about platform just for the fact that we still don't have pc express 4

 I did like that. You know intel. They stopped giving us uh cpu coolers, which theirs were pretty horrible. Um on their processors and amd, did give you cpu coolers, which at least the wraith prism was a good, at least, in my opinion, a good cpu cooler

 So if you're, you know, if you're familiar with that, it's going to be pretty easy, you can overclock in your bios. You can use the ryzen master software. If you're new to overclocking. I would probably recommend using the ryzen master software as it's easier to use for this processor
