 You will get higher clock speeds if you can keep rising temperatures in check because, as you overclock Rison, it is a series of chips, both the 1000 mm and even up to the 3000 series they're all sensitive to temperature before they get to the dangerous points. So if you can keep temperatures down with an aftermarket cooler, you will likely see better performance across the board, even if you're, just relying on something like PBO to do your overclocks for you, or even if you're, going for an all core overclock, you will get some Benefit from these third-party coolers, even though the prism is keeping this chip perfectly cool, but the tricky part of all. This is whether it's really worth the investment. Now I would argue if you're pairing it with a risin, 930 900 X, then yeah

All those CPUs will ship with this exact cooler, so today we're taking a look at it and really trying to figure out if it's worth it to even upgrade that cooler for a lot of these chips or whether you're just as well to just buy the chip. AMD's Wraith Prism Cooler - To Keep or Ditch It?

 As far as my 3700x, temps were in high 40s, low 50s on idle, and this fan would get very loud. I have since upgraded my CPU cooler to aftermarket brand, and it's much quieter and cooler. For 3600 and below, it's more than adequate, and I love the RGB on it. For anything more powerful, look elsewhere

Got this originally for the 3600x, since it came with the Stealth and I wanted RGB for the build. Seems to handle the 3600x OK, but still temps were in high 40s.  The pump is a pretty standard, acetech design with a round copper cold plate. I mean it looks pretty cool, but that's just my opinion, i guess so as for testing, it might be a bit unorthodox and i'm not going to do something that you might normally see on other tech channels because well i wanted to test this out for myself. AMD Wraith Prism Still Worth It?

3 volts and this cooler does its job, full disclosure my case is not the best at moving air through it...

I originally got one of these with my ryzen 7 3700X, and it had a crazy vibration to it. I didn't want to deal with trying to return just the cooler and not the processor, so I just bought another one and prayed. This one is much better, and it just looks cool. It cools decently enough, I run my 3700x at 4300 at 1

 So, just don't put it under a 200 watt load you'll be okay, it seems to be fine and roughly the r7 uh, maybe i7 9k or non non tau window. Intel cpus, something like an r5, would be no problem, especially if you're a 65 watt to uh, say 100 watt tdp, keeping in mind that that number doesn't necessarily mean power in the same way that that's talking about it, but from our testing uh, something like an R5. R7. No problem so r7 is stretching it don't overclock it, but you'll be fine

 That'S not going to happen. The only reason that would happen is if it is uh, the liquid cooler is exceptionally bad and we haven't tested any recently with this set of data. We have tested some, but not recently, with this set of data or uh. If it's been mounted poorly or there's something screwy going on with the unit or the testing configuration or something like that, so just to set expectations, don't expect a 120 millimeter tower, which is just lower surface area

 Otherwise, that's it for this one. It'S fine, we don't mind.  The lighting effects are really cool, but it just isn't worth it. It doesn't keep my cpu that cool either. I'm always around 50c when my old cooler kept me close to 30. I've tried all the solutions online too, believe me, but this thing is just so dang loud

Way too loud and I'm not really picky

 The riser 930 900 X doesn't need a great big cooler strapped on to it for maximum performance, and it certainly doesn't require liquid cooling even with PPO enabled you won't gain much more performance by upgrading the cooler. I'M not saying you shouldn't upgrade the cooler mind you I'm it's perfectly legitimate thing to do if you'll want to seek lower temperatures and quiet operating volumes, I'm just saying that it won't improve performance beyond a few percent, as we just saw so. For that reason, I decided to test the 3900 X with the Box cooler, so I didn't have to factor in the cost of additional cooling such as this thing here when I was making my cost per frame analysis for gamers the Wraith prism, it is even less Of an issue really because games don't load up all 12 cores and place them under excessive load for long periods of time. In fact, when gaming, the fan speed was generally around 2,000 rpm anyway, so it was much quieter than what we see when stress testing with blender for those that missed it, when comparing just the CPU price, the value of these higher end third generalising parts, don't look So great for gamers, the 3900 X, for example, costs quite a bit more than the 9900 K, while the 3700 X matched the 9700 K

 The reason I use the Box coolers because my initial testing showed that, although the 3100 X and 3700 X did boost better with improved cooling, we were only talking about very small percentage gains, very very tiny increases in frequency, especially when, considering what clock speeds they ran Out, anyway, with this cooler so yeah, those small increases in clock speed had a little to no impact on performance.  Where is it so here the Wraiths prism, RGB box, cooler we're going to compare how it performs using that as well as a big old 360 millimeter all-in-one, liquid cooler and the particular model I'll be using for this test? Is the castle 360 X from deep cool got the new anti League technology and all that good stuff anyway, we'll be comparing how those two coolers perform on the 3100 X and kind of interesting tests, because in my reviews of the 3700 X and 300 X? Actually, I did the same for the 36 as well. Wraith Prism RGB vs. 360mm Liquid Cooler, Ryzen 9 3900X

These things really suck and they're really loud but they're a lot cheaper than some other options but if you have a few bucks laying around I recommend getting a noctua cooler instead. The mounting method for these suck super bad and are a real pain to install. The only redeeming quality of these is how cheap they are and how good the RGB looks

You can find cheaper fans that will keep your CPU cooler, but this unit is designed for AMD's CPUs. It comes with some of AMD CPUs and is quite nice with the aRGB design.

A coolder for AMD fanboys

 The RGB is nice and easy to control using the cooler master software. I use a USB header to control the RGB although you can also the 12V RGB header but it may need a different software.  Update: the cooler didnt cool as well as I initially thought, it started out good and did do better than the cooler I had but still wasnt doing a great job at keep temp where I wanted them. And the noise was better but still quite noticeable

 As I stated above you need the two small retention brackets that the cooler hooks on to mount this cooler so if you get this cooler make sure you get those as well. Luckily I believe the brackets came with my 3600 even tho the wraith stealth does not used them. It did come with thermal paste pre-applied but it did not coming with any instructions on how to mount although you can easily find a youtube video/instructions online to figure it out. Also there is a small Low/High switch on the cooler itself, I recommend starting on low unless you needed it on high because high is very loud

 Im going to return this cooler and get a Noctua cooler, from the reviews of the Noctua it should greatly help with both my temps and noise and im willing to pay the difference in cost to solve those problems.
