If you find the Dell Alienware AW3423DW too expensive or aren't a fan of the ultrawide display, check out an upper mid-range model like the Gigabyte AORUS FO48U OLED. It delivers the same perfect black levels as the Dell monitor thanks to its OLED panel, but the main difference is that it has worse color volume, so colors aren't as vivid. 1 So now we're in this beautiful world where both my PC and my monitor support 2.1, which means I can get that full 4k 120 and of course that TV also supports things like G sync the variable refresh rate much better contrast ratio Of course being an OLED which has its pros and cons But you're getting almost a million or infinite contrast ratio compared to maybe 12 to 1300 to 1 on this IPS display And of course when it comes to HDR content, while it's not really a massive deal for PCs I think at the moment TVs are generally much brighter Which means you can get a much better sort of HDR effect if you're going to use a TV So I set it up I made the video and I had this 48 inch TV here for about a month as I say and Firstly, I was just blown away by it I absolutely loved it that sort of inky black that you got also the glossy panel Even though it's not the best because you get reflections and in my fairly bright living room I could see the wall behind me which was an ideal coming from, you know Typical matte PC monitors and of course just the sheer scale of it was of sight to behold It was very very cool. But at the time I did have a couple of issues I didn't mention this in the video because I thought it might be fixed with an update which has been since But when I connected the 2.1 and I tried to get 10-bit 4k 120 I'd have this sort of flashing every now and then there was an issue with Nvidia G-Sync and the LG TV essentially But LG eventually a couple months later updated it So that did fix that but the other much bigger issue was as much as I loved using the TV I got headaches

  The new monitor did turn out much better than the one I originally got, but I will say I think this monitor does have an issue with the bottom left corner because I'm seeing several other people mentioning the same thing with this model. All in all though, this has been a good upgrade over my Asus VG248QE, which in of itself was an awesome monitor for gaming when I originally got it 6 years ago, but since I'm a web developer now I kind of wanted to go beyond a TN and use something that's still great for gaming, but I can use for work when I work from home.  I'll add some updated images, but I would recommend to take them with a grain of salt since a phone is trying to capture as much light as possible, it can tend to be exaggerated. It still doesn't change the fact that you'll notice the bottom left with your own eyes on black or dark scenes, but it looks more like a glare, like when the sun is glaring on your screen, but I'll still say though that the color representations on this monitor compared to the 4k Dell I use at work and my old Asus TN are light years better, and text is easier to read once you fine tune it a couple times to your liking

 Thanks to Amazon I have been happier with my purchase. Probably one of the many reasons I left Newegg years ago.  Image details: I'm posting two new ones with the light on and the light off, and the light off has my TN to the side with the same glow test pulled up to show you the difference, so as you'll see, the blacks are still better on the IPS. Like I said, still take it with a grain of salt because the camera does slightly exaggerate it all, but I tried to minimize the light intake as much as my phone would allow to accurately represent what you'll see visually yourself

The Monitor Itself is Great! The KVM & USB Hub Features? Not So Much

 Running along the bottom below the display is a speaker array, which looks fine, and the speakers themselves are the basic sort of TV speakers you'd usually expect to receive, and they should probably only be a backup audio source. On the flip side, Gigabyte don't have many unique features of their own that are worth caring about. While the FO-48U is essentially the same as the C1 in areas like response times, contrast and color gamut, the C1 is noticeably brighter in HDR content to the tune of 100 to 200 nits brighter. That's a big deal on an OLED panel where brightness is less than amazing, and yeah sure both panels have poor full screen white brightness that makes desktop usage less than stellar, but in the HDR mode the simple reality is the C1 looks better

I’ve been using my LG C1 for about a month now as a full time PC monitor so I can’t say too much about it yet. I don’t game much and my time spent on my PC is like 80% productivity with like 10% movies/shows and the other 10% games. I take the usual precautions; hide taskbar, black wallpaper or wall paper engine, brightness to like 40, dark mode whenever possible and etc. I also have a second monitor just for chat apps since they seem to be the most static thing on the screen. 

I went to an AW38 for a week just to test it out and it’s just a downgrade in regards to image quality compared to the LG C1. I’ve decided that i’m not going back to a regular monitor and if I get burn in a few years down the line on the C1 than so be it.

77 LG CX user here. I use it for gaming/movies/and PC monitor. Heavy use 4 days a week 8h day. I've had 0 issues. Well other than hanging it.

The TV itself has pretty robust anti burn in protection. Once I set it, probably 3/4 full strength (this is a guess). I haven't touched it since.  It's been almost a year. Used to love Samsung TVs but, the LG has the nicest picture.

I was going to buy a 77" LG OLED TV until I started reading about burning issues from static images.

Does anyone here actually use their LG OLED TV for a regular PC desktop monitor?   I often open a web browser on the left side of the screen and watch TV in a window simultaneously.  Also, the Windows taskbar is at the bottom of my screen, unless running full-screen apps.  Would I have to worry about burning and colors wearing out unevenly after a few years of use?

Maybe, OLED is better suited for gaming and full-screen movies only?

LG OLED C1 as daily driver full-time PC monitor ...and PC gaming monitor?

UPDATED: Missing items

 Let's go ahead and unbox by starting at the top Now keep in mind this box is designed Just like TVs so your accessories will be at the top So go ahead and take those out first and then once you're ready to take the monitor itself out You'll utilize the clips at the bottom of the box. There's one or two on each side you'll pull push those in and they just pop right out so you can slide the box straight up and Get it out of the way keep in mind that this is a pretty heavy TV So make sure you have somebody giving you hand when you try to lift it So first we got here is the remote the remote is just going to be a very basic remote volume up and down volume mute input settings power on and off and It's basically similar to a fire TV stick remote outside of that nothing fancy to it Next we have the cables Now this does come with three cables so that you can hook up your video game consoles or your PC The cables are going to be an HDMI cable now This will be utilized for your consoles more than likely Your PC can obviously use the HDMI cable as well to connect it if you need to But more than likely if you have a PC that can push the kind of frame rates on this screen You're going to use this cable here, which is going to be your DisplayPort cable now This is a DisplayPort cable that supports the 120 Hertz so you're going to be just fine This is the USB 3.0. Cable that will be utilized to connect the monitor to your computer And that is for setting up the KVM switch Here we have the manual and a couple screws the screws are going to be used for the mounting brackets or the mounted legs There's going to be two legs on it, and that's it the warranty card is also in there But you can register online if you want to A warranty definitely go ahead and get that done seeing as which this is a monitor and you can get dead pixels The power cords here you actually get three of them one for each type of outlet for the different countries out there So you're gonna get one

 You know the ray tracing the HDR The the 4k high-resolution textures all of it here. You can see that the OLED really shines when it comes to the contrast That these monitors can pump out I mean looking at spider-man alone the blacks are just as dark as can be when the moonlight hits the front you can definitely see the difference between the Light hitting his arm in the front and the separation of his back where the light isn't hitting it The streetlights the reflections on the buildings I mean you can see them really nicely in this kind of monitor the textures of the buildings as well Even though you're swinging fast through these buildings. You can still see them in great detail Overall I would say this monitor has been a pretty nice monitor for me. I've liked most of the stuff I've seen with it except for the two issues that I have described which was that auto dimming feature from the white colors to that Grayish color as well as that pop-up from telling me that I need to turn off the monitor So it can perform its maintenance

This is the spider-man remastered edition that came out for PC a few weeks ago Here you can see I have these settings maxed out I have ray tracing enabled DLSS the whole nine yards the only thing I don't have on this one is the HDR I just didn't like the HDR look on this game But overall I wanted to show this game to you guys as well because it does utilize every piece of technology these graphics cards have and can really show you just how this monitor will allow games to shine So this monitor right here shines really well with these kind of games that are utilizing all the newest Technology that have come out with graphics cards. You know the ray tracing the HDR The the 4k high-resolution textures all of it here. You can see that the OLED really shines when it comes to the contrast That these monitors can pump out I mean looking at spider-man alone the blacks are just as dark as can be when the moonlight hits the front you can definitely see the difference between the Light hitting his arm in the front and the separation of his back where the light isn't hitting it The streetlights the reflections on the buildings I mean you can see them really nicely in this kind of monitor the textures of the buildings as well Even though you're swinging fast through these buildings
