The Arc'teryx Aerios FL GTX is one of the lightest hiking-specific shoes we have ever reviewed. They are virtually unnoticeable on foot, which was a blessing as we embarked on a 19-mile hike to test these shoes. Surprisingly nimble, the featherweight shoes also give decent support and traction, not to mention being exceptionally waterproof and breathable. Our feet were hardly sweaty even after hiking in dry and dusty conditions.
The Aerios are ridiculously light, but they lose some long-term durability to achieve this weight. We put them to the test and hiked about 300 miles in them before they became too soft to be useful for trail hiking anymore. The outer of the shoe still looked surprisingly good, but the structure of the midsole and the heel cup had broken down enough that they were not as supportive as they once were. This still seems like a reasonable lifespan for such a niche hiking shoe, and we look forward to buying our next pair to test.

 Overall, the base is wide enough that when you are hiking on rocky terrain, you've got enough of a base here to keep your foot from moving around too much I'd say. The overall fit is true to size, I'm an 8 and a half. This is an 8 and a half, and my foot felt quite comfortable in it. If anything, it might be a little narrow for some people, but I love the way the D Galations in here and you can tighten and make sure that everything fits snugly around your plant

 Just a little bit doesn't have much of our support. Just a little bit. Very soft uh doesn't have much cushioning either, but the huge benefit of the ortholite - and i have tested them many times already in different boots - is that they have that kind of moisture, wickering technology, moisture absorption. Basically, that does not allow the bacteria to spread um

 I love mid-sized boots that are waterproof that are lightweight that have a very versatile outsole, and this is it right here they offer decent amount of protection. I mean you can walk if you are more or less experienced. You know hiker, you can walk for miles and not feel anything because they are comfortable and they are lightweight and you're not going to struggle that much with the traction in this at all. Considering the versatility um of the outsole, so this is to me really really good choice

 Outsoles and people do like it. It lasts the longest, it's good quality, rubber, so great stuff, okay, so uh done with that. Let'S move on to the criteria. Number five really quickly: the temperature uh in the hot temperature they're great, very nice, very breathable, thanks to the gore-tex waterproofing, usually waterproof boots

 They run a little bit hotter, not the case here, because it's gore-tex fancy. Yes, now, whenever it comes to cold temperatures, i'm really not going to talk about that too much. These are not winter boots. They don't have any kind of insulation

  Loved the light-weight. Liked the overall style.  Unfortunately, between the lack of expansion room of the tongue and the narrower main foot area, the right 'length' of shoe was just too restrictive to be comfortable - especially if more sitting/lounging and not actively up and about.  So if they get wet that the face fabric gets soaked, so once I'm done that they're gon na be ready to go back out, I will still wear those ones for quite some time because they're still comfortable but, like I mentioned those ones, are gon na. Be my new long hiking shoes I just started hiking the Vancouver Island Trail and I'm hoping to be using those ones are often on that trail. So I'm gon na start breaking those up, so I can wear them for like longer hikes. But if I have a long hike coming up, I still feel II feel pretty comfortable using those ones at this point in time

 Uh snowshoeing, strapping the snowshoe on these shoes and, after my whole journey, like the the whole face fabric, was obviously soaked. But once again, like the only deafness on my feet, was my perspiration not being able to escape the chute due to the fact that the face fabric was so so first. A few features that I like on the shoes is the fact that they have the nose here. So when you're going up like a very steep incline, like your feets, always see, the toes are gon na move this way

 Are the vibram mega grip the only time those souls actually slipped on me were on the wet log? Now, if you're familiar with the Pacific Northwest, the logs were pretty big here, so you kind of feel comfortable, but the log was wet. There was no bark on it and at some point one of my foot slipped and that's the only slippage I can attribute to those shoes but then again walking with a different type of shoe on the same log. I would be like both sides. So in that respect, did they perform flawlessly

 So I'm gon na start breaking those up, so I can wear them for like longer hikes. But if I have a long hike coming up, I still feel II feel pretty comfortable using those ones at this point in time.   I like it because it's waterproof but not warm, lightweight, minimal design, and good flat support (but this is telative to what you need).

Good looking shoe. Comfortable for casual and light-duty hikes.

 Sure enough, a size 12 was tight everywhere. In length and, especially in width. Ah well. It's a snazzy looking shoe and looked like to would be great for what I wanted - hiking/city walking while traveling - but no deal

Runs small

 great toe, heel and tongue design. all around a high end, light shoe. Must say out of the box they're slightly narrow around the arch compared to other trekking shoes, while the length feels true to size.

 I liked not having to change shoes as often, and not having clunky boots getting in the way of driving.  True to fit, I went with 10.5 (my sneaker size rather than my boot size). They're a little narrow but not tight across the top

  Understated, and attractive enough to wear in place of going-out sneakers (once you wipe off the trail dust). I wore mine heavily across multiple types of terrain in Colorado recently, and also in-town and driving long distance in between.
