I'm going to show you the Arc'teryx Rust Jacket. one of the pinnacle Jack is in the Arctic ski line. so this jacket is a three layered gore-tex It is designed with the backcountry skier in mind. It's got a regular fit, it's one point three ounces so it trims some weight from some of the heavier jackets from Arc'teryx and it's got a heavy duty gore-tex outer and inner so that if you're constantly putting your gear to the test, this is gonna be the jacket for you

 It's got pull strings on the on the hood. It's got a something that'll take the volume out of the hood. So if you don't want to wear your ski helmet and you're using the jacket for other purposes and you have the elements coming down, you can take the volume out of the hood and it makes it smaller so it fits over a baseball cap or a beanie or something like that. There's also essential on the back give you a little more protection around the neck and there's cinches on the front as well on each side right here that'll come down and allow you to shrink the opening in the hood if you are in some really extreme conditions

 It's going to keep you warm, it's going to keep you dry in all conditions, so let's get into it. So on the outside of the jacket, we've got a lot of the standard Arc'teryx features a good easy to work waterproof zipper. This is important as you can do it, use it with one hand. It also has so these pockets are really large

If you don’t spend much time skiing / riding in really wet, heavy snow, you could get away with using a more breathable shell like the Strafe Cham, Patagonia Descensionist, or Black Diamond Helio Active Shell. But if you want a light, fairly breathable shell that’ll keep you dry in wet weather, the Rush LT Jacket makes a lot of sense

 It’s long and roomy enough to provide ample coverage and space to add bulky layers underneath, it’s got the features I want in a ski shell, and it’s fended off the nastiest weather I’ve been able to find.To me, the Rush LT Jacket seems like a great shell for backcountry skiers who spend most of their time in wet environments like the U.S. Pacific Northwest

 But I’ve been using a few lightweight Gore Pro shells for several years now with no issues — I just don’t mistreat them as much as I would a heavier, thicker shell.Who’s It For?The Rush LT Jacket is light, very protective, fairly breathable, and it has a moderate fit and feature set. As is the norm with many shells these days, there is no extra storm flap on the main zip, Arc’teryx use their WaterTight™ Vislon front zip and I have had nothing but positive experience re this. The jacket breathes as well as any other Gore Tex jacket I’ve used (usually I find this best in cold dry climates – oh the irony!) but if extra ventilation is needed on those tough ascents, then zippered pit ventilation (WaterTight™ pit zippers), easily accessible when wearing a pack, can also be employed.

Arc’teryx Rush LT Jacket

 I am into ski touring. Soft shells are no good for week long tours - you still need to carry a good outer layer. So with this jacket I can happily wear as the outside layer in warmer weather on top of a base layer (instead of a soft shell), or as a final layer on top of several others. Fits well, even on top of fleece and light down jacket

 They vent well during warm days and keep me dry during storm days. When the vents are fully zipped, they provide a solid amount of warmth for cold tours. I am able to fit my beacon in the zip thigh pocket, and the cuffs seem really durable and tough. I am 6’0’’ and 155 pounds, and the medium was definitely the right choice for me

This winter, I needed new ski pants. My previous pants were a pair of breathable softshell pants that were amazing while skinning, but they left a lot to be desired during storm days. For their replacement, I was looking for pants that had a waterproof shell, generous thigh vents, a beacon pocket, no insulation, and a lightweight design. With those characteristics in mind, I went with the Arc’teryx Rush LT pant

 I don’t feel comfortable putting anything valuable in the hook-and-loop pocket, so I typically keep a Buff or light gloves in it. In the future, making this a zip pocket for a phone or wallet would be a big upgrade.Final ThoughtsThe Rush LT is comfortable, lightweight, and provides ample protection from the elements. The GORE C-KNIT backer is soft and quiet, while the small bib design adds just the right amount of protection and warmth

 The LT is Arc’teryx-speak for lightweight and is defined as, “high performance, minimalist design that is durable for its weight.” Compared to the Rush FL pant, the Rush LT is slightly burlier and warmer due to its GORE-TEX shell construction. The FL, which has a softshell construction, is defined as Fast and Light “minimalist, high performance and lightweight, for rapid travel in variable conditions.” So between the Rush LT and FL, the LT has slightly better weather protection, while the FL is lighter and more breathable
