The Armada ARV 106 is built to be the ultimate tool in big mountain freestyle skiing.  Hi, I'm Dan. I just got done riding the Armada ARV 106. 106 hundred foot is a great ski for anyone that's going to get into a little bit of fresh snow, be able to play in the trees, and definitely be able to go all over the mountain. It's a great ski that's going to want to hold on edge when you're on the groom, but when you get into some fresh, or you're going over some rollers, and you want to be a little more playful, tip and tail butters, it's a great way to go

Thoughts on the J. Ski fastforward

 It's easy to shut down your speed quickly. This is the ski I would take if I want to go on the hill and just rip some laps, maybe jumping in the park, but also cruising the rest of the mountain. I'd rather ARV 106, just wide enough if you can get out into some softer snow and you're not going to be tripping over the tips. I like the smear technology, makes the ski really clean, edge to edge, and just having the solid construction for being in the park

 It comes in three sizes, 172, 180, and 188. And the 180 length, of course, comes in 106 underfoot, 134 in the tip, and 124 in the tail. One of the characteristics I like most about this ski is the fact that we now have built into it our 3D base or our SmearTech, which is that 3D profile in the tips and tails. Given the ARV 106 is going to see more hard pack snow and ski see more resort type of snow, we've extended the length of the steel edge further up into the rocker zones

It does have the 2.5 impact edge, so if you're looking for a wider park ski or that ski there, you're going to ski everywhere in, including the park

 You don't have to put too much rocker in it to make it really a playful soft snow ski. We can get that playfulness out of the smear tech. You can check it up, you can slash it, you can release that tail really easily, but when you stand over the ski you can really get a lot of effective edge and it helps quiet the ski down, especially when the conditions are firmer, so it gives you a ton of versatility. The flex profile characteristics, it's fairly soft in the tip and tail, stiff underfoot

 It's got a really durable edge build. AR75 sidewall, it's got a little bit of tip and tail rocker, both in the tip and tail, so in soft snow conditions it works really well. Hellooo! I grew up on east coast skiing, started when I was 15 back in 2009. Been skiing on Rossignol S2 Howells (150 cm maybe, 120/90/113) since then. I'm 5'6 130 lb now and they are definitely short for my skill level. I was a patroller at a small mountain for a few years (they were atrocious for that but college budget). I am a confident skier, like to play around with small jumps, &amp; definitely want to learn more in the park than I have thus far.

Anywho, looking to upgrade skis. Ideally looking for something I can use out west since east coast skiing just isn't worth the money anymore and may be moving out there in the next few years. Curious about backcountry stuff, plan to pursue if I move out there. Want something that can sorta "do it all" but definitely wider, light, and playful. I just skied on some older Blizzards in Tahoe last week and they were HEAVY.

If you've made it this far, thoughts on Pivots vs. Attacks?

Powder/All Mountain Skis for Female? Armada ARW 106 UL

I’ve been looking for skis that are good for all mountain, but can also shred well in the park, I think the line chronics, armada arv 86, line blade, and the K2 reckoner, I’ve heard a bit about all of them that makes me think they’re good for me, but I’ve also heard other stuff that makes them all sound different then I hoped, I was just wondering if anyone else had any thoughts on these skis or any other good options to consider?

All mountain/park skis

 Really fun all mountain free ride ski. You know, tons of technology packed into a pretty simple build. Check this thing out at SkiEssentials.com and we'll see you out there on the hill

 This thing generates a 20.5 meter turn radius. So that's on the longer side. That's what they're looking for with the ski like this to make it kind of bend to your whim and you can make it do those shorter turns if you push hard

 Generally, we're seeing advanced to expert skiers on a ski like this because of the extra weight and that softer snow free ride application. But that doesn't mean that an intermediate skier, you know, couldn't use this as their soft snow, soft snow ski. But most of those advanced and expert skiers are generally going to be using this as their, you know, daily driver, especially if they're in a snowier region. So that's the Armada ARV 106

 In fact, you're reducing material. So they make the ski lighter and more playful, more smeary in the soft snow. So they have that in the tips and the tails as well. So by ending that metal edge here and then starting to really round out the base, they're making the very ends of these skis just extremely smeary, surfy, you know, very well rounded for soft snow and powder performance

2022 Armada ARV 106 - SkiEssentials com Ski Test

 Steep and deep powder/trees are my happy place, but my days of chasing storms are unfortunately behind me at this point. I also have a pair of Rossignol S7s if I know I am going to be charging deep powder.

 The way that I like to think about this is it's kind of like a displacement boat hull, and a displacement boat hull is designed to provide more float. So this SmearTech is providing more float. Basically you get more surface area to keep the tips and tails on the surface of the snow, and it's also allowing for easier edge release. So really, really cool

 So really pretty straightforward design on these, but that's kind of what you need in a ski like this. Performance wise, if you like playful skiing, if you like kind of looking at the whole mountain and thinking it as your personal playground, this is a great ski. Maybe you have a terrain park skiing background, maybe you don't. I think either, it doesn't matter if you necessarily do, but obviously someone that does will likely really enjoy this and may even use this as a park ski

 But sandwich construction, wood core, no crazy additives. They have Armada's kind of classic partial sidewall, so you get full vertical sidewall underfoot, and then it kind of tapers to no sidewall in the tip. So really pretty straightforward design on these, but that's kind of what you need in a ski like this. Performance wise, if you like playful skiing, if you like kind of looking at the whole mountain and thinking it as your personal playground, this is a great ski
