My boss uses his company credit card rewards to buy employees giftcards and he gave me $400 to sweetwater. I'm thinking of the best way to use this money. My interface and monitors are plenty good (Tascam 16x08 and Yamaha HS7) for my home studio needs. I lack a good pair of small diaphragm condensers and my large diaphragm condenser is just the ol' AT2035 which has done great as a beginner mic but clearly is meant to be upgraded. So those were my first two thoughts to replace, but I'm open to suggestions, having this much money to spend is a lot for me, and I'm not sure whether to buy a couple good things or something quite nice, or even pair this lump of money with some personal savings to buy something legitimately nice. 

So if you were me, a DIY home producer who suddenly could splurge on studio equipment, what would you buy?

Christmas Bonus

 As far as I can tell, the sound quality is about $200. I was fooled into thinking it would sound like a $500 or $1000 mic. I really like the look and feel of the design but I returned it b/c obviously I am looking for a great sounding mic not a great looking mic!

I like my Aston spirit. It’s a great mic. I just got a wa251 and as a tube mic, it’s done wonders on my overly bright vocals.

I'm almost done with finishing acoustic treatment for my recording space (room 1,5x1,5x3m) and my music station and I'm thinking about changing my microphone. Currently I'm using SE Electronics X-1, it lasted me years but now I think it's time for an upgrade because the microphone became a bottleneck in my setup. 

Everyone recommends me SM7B, I read some things and apparently it would work for my language (a lot of sibilants) but nobody recommended me anything else beside SM7B, I thought that Rode NTA-1 might be on the same level but apparently I was wrong. Internet and rankings usually focuses on microphones that are cheaper knockoffs of SM7B, I'm not looking for cheaper version/ alternative, I'm looking for viable option to consider in comparison to SM7B

Budget wise it's around 500-600$, I'm able to up my budget a little but is there a point? I think anything more expensive could be an overkill but I'm not really knowledgeable enough to be shre

Is there any real choice for vocal microphone for bedroom singers and rappers beside Shure SM7B?

I had pops, modulation and a white noise issue with this microphone. It sounded okay but I don't want a troublesome microphone for my production. Sent back and bought anther microphone from Amazon.

Good sound with issues

The Aston spirit is a very very good mic, especially for the price. It's very versatile, i have used it on vocals, bass, guitar, rooms, and even overheads ( a bit bright) or outside kick.

I 'd like people with expertise to let me know what are the key differences between the two mics and which one would you go for mentioning the use case of course.

I'm not an audiophile, I make music just for fun. Sometimes I'll have friends come over and have them on the mic. So, it's mainly vocals. I'm mainly looking for the one that is going to give me that crisp, clear, smooth sound without being too harsh.

Deciding on these two mics because these are what my favorite artists use.

TLM 102 vs. Aston Spirit

 Was about ready to throw everything out the window when I decided to try swapping my brand new mic for an AT2035.  The noise disappeared. So I did some research online. Lots of people have this problem

 Makes recordings unusable, and I'd audible behind vocals so even a gate won't fix it.  Update: I contacted Aston and they were great to work with. They had me send some audio samples, I compared this with my AT2035 and Rode NT1A. I recorded what was happening and sent it off

 So far, it's working great. I really do LOVE the sound of this mic, so I hope it continues working for me.

I'm a (mostly self-taught) Audio Engineer and Vocalist I am currently making a home-studio. Since I record myself mostly for now, I am looking for a mic that's right for me. 

I'm a male and though I got a deeper talking voice it always gets rather high and soft when I sing (peaks at around 180 Hz)

I wanted to order an Aston Spirit since it has the reputation of a rather unique sound and that it's very smooth.. but still I'd love to hear some opinions before I make the final decision. 

Should I go with the Spirit or do you have other suggestions? (Same price class if possible, I can't afford a U87 haha)

(For genre, it's mostly layered singing over trap beats)

Microphone Choice for Vocals (Budget)

Sure, there are other mics out there that do the same job, but for the price, this thing is amazing. I use it on instruments, vocals, piano, etc and am rarely left wanting for much more (unless of course it's time to go clock in an use the $1000+ mics). I also personally love the way it looks, but in my opinion a microphone is in the business of sounding good, not looking good so that's just a bonus for me.

The price was too good to pass up!

On the other hand, if you still suggest for me to use a condenser microphone (which I fear is not working as I would like to, due to the lack of treatment of the room), I can get the Aston Spirit, the Aston Origin, the Warm Audio WA87 R2, those three for almost the same price, and lower than an SM7B (more so if we add a fethead to the equation). &#x200B;.

 However, when I received and heard the sound from an AKG P220 I decided to use P220. In fact and unexpectedly, I liked the sound from P220 better, and the sound from P220 is also clear and warm.
