When it comes to the TUF card itself, it was on average within 1% faster than the Nvidia Founders Edition that already boosted itself well above the original spec. MSI's Gaming X Trio ended up being 2% faster, but like I said in my review of the MSI card, it is just too early to draw conclusions based on only three cards as boost speeds will vary from sample to sample and these 1 and 2% margins are just really thin

 They also added another HDMI 2.1 port on the back and next to that you get three DisplayPort 1. It is fast but you just don't need this much power to play comfortably on 1080p.  On the testbed, I tested three different GPUs, all running stock. The TUF card, Nvidia's RTX 3080 Founders Edition, and for comparison to last-gen, the AORUS RTX 2080 Ti Extreme from Gigabyte. The cards were run on an open-air test bench with a stock AMD Ryzen 9 3950X, cooled by an NZXT Kraken X63 AIO on an AORUS X570 Master using 16 gigs of G.Skill DDR4 3400 memory

 Nvidia's pre-release press driver version 456.16 was used for both RTX 3080s, and the latest Wickel driver version 452.06 was used for the RTX 2080 Ti. Not to keep you guys waiting any further, here are the benchmarks

This is one heck of a GPU! The 4k video that it puts out looks great. The only cons I have are the price and the noise. However, I guess for what it produces, I can live with both

 And to help you with that you have two apron connectors, because literally no one wants to be bothered with that special snowflake Nvidia 12-pin connector, and also 2.7 slots worth of cooling. So a bonus to this card is that it's actually one of the smaller RTX 3080s you can actually buy. Now in a world where 4 slot cards are becoming a norm, and almost 3 slot card is like being one of the skinnier people in America, but still, something I guess, that of course also means you have less heatsink and thus less cooling potential for this graphics card

 And unlike that Gigabyte card which we covered last time, where they randomly threw in an HDMI 2.0 port out of nowhere, here all DisplayPort and HDMI connectors are of the fastest standards that the RTX 30 series allows. And finally when it comes to RGB, well it's pretty quaint, with just a stripe and a logo on the side of the card, it's definitely not the most in the world, but also nothing too distracting. And between the minimal RGB and rather the functionality of the entire card, this is supposed to be more of a performer, rather than a show or offer, compared to cards like the Aorus Master and many other RTX 3080s

 And finally when it comes to RGB, well it's pretty quaint, with just a stripe and a logo on the side of the card, it's definitely not the most in the world, but also nothing too distracting. And between the minimal RGB and rather the functionality of the entire card, this is supposed to be more of a performer, rather than a show or offer, compared to cards like the Aorus Master and many other RTX 3080s. Though to think about making things more functional and less flashy, is that they're supposed to, you know, be more functional, and yes, cards like the Aorus Master may have distracting stuff like a screen which nobody asked for, but at least they also have much faster boost clocks to actually back it up. So that leaves this card without a pretty solid unique selling point

 Now starting off with pure performance, while the card doesn't have too much to boast about. Seeing how the applied factor overclock is just 4% over the vanilla boost clock. Or just half of what the RTX 3080 Master which we covered last time had. Though in fairness to ASUS, this card also has a special OC mode thanks to the dual bios feature that does push the clocks all the way up to 1850MHz

 So many of you enjoyed watching my ASUS TUF RTX 3080 Ti video. So on my eternal quest for the perfect RTX 3080, let's check out that card's younger brother, the ASUS TUF RTX 3080 Gaming OC.  They're a UK retailer that sell everything and anything to computers and they've been very, very supportive of me and the channel over this period. Now, a little bit of insight into the PR world and reviewing things. Generally speaking, the companies either have one of two ways that they work. So they either have a few rotation samples that they've loaned out for maybe a couple of weeks, then they'll ask for it back and then it'll be sent to someone else

 And as a quick side note, if you were to run your CPU cooler in the roof, you'd get even lower temperatures still. Mine's in the front because this is a 420 mil radiator. And this is the only case that I've got that can support it. And it has to be in the front

 Valorant. Valorant is so easy to run. 440 as an average. Apex Legends was the last game basically stuck around 140 consistently

 It doesn't take it in the roof, unfortunately. So a 240, 360 if you can get it in the roof, then you'll get the fresh air from the front of the case straight into the graphics card. So that would be even cooler still. But just to the way this case is designed and the radiator I'm using, I have to put it in the front

 It really helps give the card a solid and premium feel in the hand and it really just does make a much better first impression than a plastic shroud. The fact that it is very colour neutral as well, being very dark grey, almost black but not quite I don't think, that only helps its appeal as you'd have no issues installing this in a colour matched build. Like the other third party RTX 3080s we have reviewed, it is certainly not a small card and it actually measures in at 299.9 x 126

 Considering it comes in at MSRP as well, it really is a bit of a no-brainer. It has excellent thermal performance, its noise levels are good, and especially so when using the Quiet BIOS, and the fact that it even has dual BIOS puts it above many of the other cards that will come in at MSRP. So overall, it is really a very easy recommendation to make. The TUF Gaming is an excellent card, and if you're looking for an RTX 3080, or at least when they come back into stock, I have to say this would be a very good buy

 This is that small bracket you can see on the back of the PCB and it should just increase overall mounting pressure between the GPU die itself and the cooler. I think Asus is really trying to show that it is improved from its previous generation as there were a number of comments about the insufficient mounting pressure of some of its last gen designs so it's good to see the company taking steps. Another good feature I like to see is that dual BIOS switch as well. By default the card comes using the Performance BIOS but you can switch this over to the Quiet BIOS and we will be testing both of these later on in the review

 This is actually the second AIB card we have looked at that comes priced at MSRP, or at least that is going to be the case once it comes back into stock. Still usually MSRP cards of the past have had not so good cooling and they don't really have that many features, but the TUF Gaming has an impressive all metal shroud, it's got a triple fan cooler, it comes factory overclocked and there's even on board dual BIOS support. So is this the best RTX 3080 we have reviewed so far? If we start things off with a look at the design, it is immediately impressive to see that Asus has used an all aluminium shroud for the TUF Gaming. This isn't something we typically see and certainly not on cards that actually come in at the MSRP

 I am not sure if that means they are no longer including these. However, amazon support told me that my codes would come 3 days after the item shipped and they certainly did. Still, be careful, as I'm sure that since it is not explicitly listed on the page anymore that it probably doesn't come with these codes anymore!  To sum up, this card has been a massive upgrade for me and the experience at 1440p 144hz gaming is much better than it was on even a 2080ti. Highly recommended if you are in this position as well

 For being an air cooler, this thing stays RIDICULOUSLY cool and I have yet to see it break 60C.  Noise:  The card has two settings (a manual switch on the card near the power plugs) for performance or quiet mode. To be honest, I've had mine set to performance and I've yet to really even hear it ramp up. Even at a synthetic max load where I tried to get temps as high as possible by turning off my case fans, this thing stayed relatively quiet compared to most cards I've had

 I play on a 1440p 144hz monitor. For example, in Modern Warfare with RTX on and on max settings my 2080ti would only sustain about 115fps. This card can sustain about 180fps. This is INCREDIBLE and actually allows me to make use of my 144hz refresh rate, finally! And Modern Warfare isn't the exception, GPU usage is consistently down 30% on all games that I play
