Can I run Home Assistant on a Ryzen NUC or lean more towards a Raspberry Pi?

I use the Asus PN50 Ryzen mini pc as my daily driver. It’s a nice machine, but definitely over kill for HA. You could possibly run it with proxmox an virtualize Linux and put HA in a docker container and use the other cycles for other purposes. But if you have an RPi, NAS, or other Linux server, I would use that instead.

NUC vs Raspberry Pi

I tried Frigate and as others said, the cpu use jumped like crazy, and the temperature as well (had a fan). Last week I moved to an Asus PN50, it has a Ryzen 5 4500u, which is probably an overkill, but wanted to future proof a bit (and will eventually run more stuff on it). Now with 3 cameras and processing images, recording event video, etc, the cpu is between 2% and 15%. Obviously with no coral, as it’s not available and with this machine I don’t feel I need it.
