 Being a Z690 chipset, the BIOS gives you all the manual freedom to adjust CPU clock ratio and precise voltage for a refined overclocking experience.  But the truth is that we have motherboards like the Z690 RS Pro which by the way I've reviewed and you should be checking if you haven't done so just yet, which does cost $30 more, granted but also brings so much more on the table. It sure is not as good looking as the Prime Z690A but it'll give you more for your money. So in short, the Prime Z690A is an amazing everyday, versatile, stable, long lifespan motherboard. But it's really only worth it if you can find it on sale, unfortunately

TLDR; I bought a 3090, picked the rest of my components, but I am not confident I have an optimized setup.

I’ve been a casual console gamer for most of my life, but after using Shadow Virtual PC for a few months, and loving the graphics power, despite the other issues - I decided it was time to build my own PC. Being the obsessive type that I am, I knew if I was going to do this, I wanted to build the best PC I could.
I’ve been trying to pick up a graphics card, and just was able to get a GIGABYTE AORUS GeForce RTX 3090 24GB GDDR6X refurbished.
I have the rest built out in pcpartpicker, but I’m worried that just because I know all of my parts are compatible, doesn’t mean they’re optimized. I have a budget in mind for the rest of the build ($2k) but would love some input. Example, do I want to go Ryzen or i9 for CPU? Does it even matter? Should I go i7 if I’m going to be relying mostly on GPU?
Is it worth it to do 2tb of Corsair m600 if I’m planning to run 64gb of Corsair dominator RAM, or can I get away with something slower/cheaper?
So - anyone have input/advice/research resources? Thanks

Bought a 3090…

 Intel and Asus have recognized the issue but shipped bored using this terrible excuse of a network adapter anyway. Unacceptable on a near $300 motherboard imo. Can not recommend any mobo using Intel I-225V NIC.

Just ordered that to pair with 12700K, ASUS Z690 Prime-A motherboard. Just need a good CPU cooler now

DDR5 RAM from Crucial, cheapest around in UK £185 2x16GB

 Prior to that discovery the MOBO\memory was unstable and the memory failed the Passmark Memtest After that fix, the system remained unstable, and I thought it was due to CPU overclocking however,the system still crashed with all overclocking turned off. Diags on the CPU say it was fine. It could have been a driver issues but event viewer points toward hardware as such I requested a replacement board. The replacement MOBO did not fix the issue

Nice features, but I would pass on the MOBO (at least until they get a more stable BIOS)

 Because while that board had 4 PCAE 16x connectors, this one has only 2, but tons of additional PCAE expansion instead. So while you have way less 16x slots in that board, you do have a configuration that does make more sense in most situations. Most people don't run 4 16x cards, and let's be honest, if you are running a smaller 1x card and 4x card from a looks perspective, it definitely looks a lot better to have a 1x card in a 1x slot, than a 1x card in a 16x slot. So yes, in theory, the configuration does make a lot more sense here, even if you do have less of those massive 16x slots

 Because if you are going to run a 1200K, well something like this board is a must, because the Z690P may be limiting your high-end CPU just a bit. Another thing to keep in mind, is that this board, at least right now, is only available in DDR5, so that may also influence which board you go for. Also, at least right now, you can only get this board without WiFi. There is no WiFi variant listed anywhere on Asus' website, so that's something else to look out for

 And the board we'll be discussing today is the Asus Prime Z690A, or basically just a step up version of the Z690P from Asus we recently covered. So I highly recommend you check out that video as well, it's coming up in the icons. But yeah, the Z690A is pretty much just a step up of that board in every single possible way. Starting with the CPU power, with this thing being way more suited for powering something like a 12900K than the Z690P, because this thing has 2 8 pins for the CPU, plus 16 phasers going directly to the CPU compared to the 8 plus 4 pin configuration and 14 phasers of the Z690P

 Now I'm just going to show you this processor that why they are fail proof. They have notches on the ends and the notches match up, okay? So the notches are to this side. So when we are putting it in we will know. Now so what we do is you do this gently

 You line this one up with one of them open and stand above it like this and you can see that the notch is lined up and then you open this one. As I said Asus says that we put it in A2. A2 is the second one away from the processor and you you you open this one here and then you slide it into both of them at the same time and you may need to stand up for it and then this one will close automatically and your RAM it's already installed. So now we are going to fit the motherboard

 So there is our motherboard now with the i7 inside in it and the super fast disk in it and I show you a test here as you see the test here it is not fast enough in the area of memory and graphics. Other than that it's performing up in the top couple of percent. So I have ordered the graphics card, I've ordered 1660 super for it and they've come down in price quite a bit. I've already ordered another Fiori, the same I'm getting one the same speed you can get them at 6,000 now and maybe you should buy it at 6,000 but I am going to match it with the 4800 and I already have ordered it on Amazon

 Now we just pull this one back in here see and this is the 3.2c one so that one goes in here beside the main power supply. Make sure you get it in the correct way and it only goes in the one way pushes in nice and neatly like this. Then we will do our normal 3
