 It has very high-end specs and once you get it set up correctly, this is a really, really good monitor. I've said a few years now that 1440p high refresh rate monitors with G-sync or freesync respectively are the best all-round gaming monitor that you can buy for people that are purely gamers. For people like me that also do content creation, it's often better to go towards the 4k displays just because of the screen real estate. But for people that are doing just mainly gaming, these 1440p high refresh rate ones are very very good for it

So down today we're checking out the A Soos Swift PG - 7 8 QR 1440p 165 Hertz G-sync gaming monitor and let's get right into it with the key specs. So this is a 27-inch 2560 by 1440 TN monitor. Now it's going with a 165 Hertz refresh rate which is very high, a bit higher than the standard 144 Hertz we see on a lot of 1440p gaming monitors and it has a great a great response time of 1 Ms Now this is G-sync enabled which means you're not going to see any ghosting or any tearing with it enabled. However, remember that you do need a NVIDIA GPU to take advantage of G-sync it will not work with your AMD GPU It also has Nvidia 3d vision technology which pretty much nobody cares about anymore for the most part

2 You'll need to use Dp if you want anything above 60hz at 1440p by the way, along with two Usb 3.0 ports, headphone jack is also on board no Dvi, though it wouldn't make much sense on this thing anyway. The 278 Qr is also rocking a one millisecond response time, which implies lightning fast color changes for each pixel. Common measurements of display response time vary from greater gray and black to white, etc where pixels must shift from one color to another

 You could spend a bit more for an Ips display, which really won't look much different when you're sitting in front of it. I've compared several Ips and Tn panels. I can only really tell which is which when I'm sitting at the thing from anything more than about a 30 degree angle from head on, though, as long as the screen isn't too wide. Color reproduction is fairly consistent between both Tn and Ips displays, at least nowadays

 Although if you're not into the whole G-sync and 165 Hertz for fresh marketing ploys, you can buy the 144hz counterpart for significantly less, but this is still one you should consider. My big three are Asus, Lg, and Acer, and if you can find what you're looking for from one of these three companies, you'll be good to go. And if you've got the computer horsepower to back up the high refresh rate and resolution, the Pg 278 Qr it's a long name is a swift buy. Get it because it's the Rog Swift

 First and foremost, this is a 1440p display spanning approximately 27 diagonal inches, yielding a pixel per inch density of around 109. You won't see much in the way of pixels past around two feet of clearance, making it a sweet spot for both gamers and content creators. With its two Gtx 1080s, Blue Sky could have handled a 4k display no problem, but I'd much rather trade in the additional ppi for a superior refresh rate. That's exactly what the 278 Qr brings to the table

What monitor do you use?

PC monitors are just bad

I have spent hours pouring through reviews of just about every monitor on the market. Enough to seriously question my own sanity.

My conclusion must be that PC monitors are all fatally compromised. No, wait. All "gaming" monitors are fatally compromised, and none have all-round brilliant gaming credentials. Sorry Reddit - I'm looking for a gaming monitor, and this is my rant.

    1. VA and 144Hz is a lie

"Great blacks," they said. Lots of smearing when those "great blacks" start moving around on the screen tho.

None of the VA monitors have fast enough response times *across the board* to do anything beyond about \~100Hz (excepting the G7 which has other issues). A fair few much less than that. Y'all know that for 60 Hz compliance you need a max response time of 16 Hz, and yet with VA many of the dark transitions are into the 30ms range!

Yeah it's nice that your best g2g transition is 4ms and that's the number you quote on the box. However your average 12ms response is too slow for 144Hz and your worst response is too slow for 60Hz, yet you want to tell me you're a 144Hz monitor? Pull the other one.

    2. You have VRR, but you're only any good at MAX refresh?

Great performance at max refresh doesn't mean much when your behaviour completely changes below 100 FPS. I buy a FreeSync monitor because I don't have an RTX 3090. Therefore yes, my frame rate is going to tank occasionally. Isn't that what FreeSync is for?

OK, so what happens when we drop below 100 FPS...? You become a completely different monitor. I get to choose between greatly increased smearing, overshoot haloing, or input lag. Why do you do this to me?

    3. We can't make something better without making something else worse

Hello, Nano IPS. Thanks for the great response times. Your contrast ratio of 700:1 is a bit... Well, it's a bit \*\*\*\*, isn't it.

Hello, Samsung G7. Your response times are pretty amazing! But now you've got below average contrast (for a VA) and really, really bad off-angle glow like IPS? And what's this stupid 1000R curve?  Who asked for that?

    4. You can't have feature X with feature Y

You can't do FreeSync over HDMI.

You can't do &gt;100Hz over HDMI.

You can't adjust overdrive with FreeSync on.

Wait, you can't change the brightness in this mode?

    5. You are wide-gamut and have no sRGB clamp

Yet last years models had it. Did you forget how to do it this year? Did you fire the one engineer that could put an sRGB clamp in your firmware?

    6. Your QA sucks

I have to send 4 monitors back before I get one that doesn't have the full power of the sun bursting out from every seem.

You want me to buy 5 monitors.

Has anyone had 0 issues with the G7

Currently doing a shit ton of research on a decent 1440p 144hz monitor (honestly its exhausting) and I'm looking to replace my  5 year old aoc g2460pg G-sync monitor.Thing is I don't want to miss on g-sync and a monitor that came up alot was the  27GL850-B 27" 2560X1440 NANO IPS 144HZ.The catch is its g-sync compatible and not true g-sync.

Preferably looking for opinions from ppl who have actually owned both g-sync and g-sync compatible.
