Whenever I shop for products for sensitive skin, more often than not, they include occlusives like shea butter or mineral oil. 

It is true that when the skin becomes dry, its barrier function is compromised. But any kind of skin type can be sensitive, even people with otherwise normal skin types.

I have oily skin that can be prone to redness. It's very difficult to find products that are comfortable (light) to wear AND don't cause irritation. I think La Roche Posay has one (Sensitive Fluid?) but it has niacinamide which can be a hit or miss for me (sometimes it burns/irritates).

I'm using adapalane which means avoiding fragrance is more important (also, some fragrances can trigger migraines for me). Yet I'm tempted to purchase something *with* fragrance if it is compatible with my oily skin, because I'm tired of wasting money on moisturisers that I can't stand. I honestly found my holy grail sunscreen much quicker than I found my holy grail moisturiser.

Sorry if this came across as rant-y, just wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem.

[Misc] I wish skincare brands would understand that just because someone has sensitive skin, it does not necessarily mean their skin is also dry

I'm hoping particularly for some suggestions for a fragrance-free, overnight moisturizer for wintertime. I have generally dry, sensitive skin. I find I need a lot more moisturizing help in the winter due to where I live (cold, dry, windy) &amp; spending a lot of time outside.

My skin is pretty sensitive and tends to react with redness. I have been using basically the same routine for years with no issues but have noticed my skin has been more red lately. I'm not sure if something in my routine has caused this or if my skin has changed.

Some background, in case it matters: I struggled with acne in my teens and into my late-20s. Long and short, most of the acne treatments (some from a dermatologist, some on my own) all just irritated my skin more. By my 30s, I found that simpler was better for me. I now get the occasional breakout, usually around my period, but nothing to complain about. 

Right now, my main concern is dryness/tightness. I'm used to winter-related dryness, but I've been feeling it earlier in the season than usual.

Current routine:

AM: 

* Rinse face with warm water 
* Olay Complete All Day Moisturizer Sensitive Skin - SPF 15
* Neutrogena Clear Face Sunscreen Lotion - SPF 55 (as needed)

PM:

* Wash with Olay Gentle Foaming Cleanser
* Olay Complete All Day Moisturizer Sensitive Skin (using now for lack of options)

Occasionally: Aveeno Oat Mask with cucumber abstract (about one/week for the last 3-4 months)

Things I've tried &amp; had reactions to:

* Aveeno Ultra-Calming Daily Facial Moisturizer (instant reaction - pain, redness)
* Olay Regenerist Recovery Night Cream (OK at first but more redness overall during use)
* Dickinson's Witch Hazel Toner (OK at first but more redness overall during use) 
* Paula's Choice Calm Redness Relief (instant reaction - redness)
* Paula's Choice Hydralight Toner (OK at first but more redness overall during use)
* Ursa Major Fortifying Face Balm (increased redness after only using 1-2/day for 1 week)
* Ursa Major Fantastic Face Wash (near instant reaction - redness)
* L'Oreal Clay Mask (forget which one exactly)
* Lumene - tried the Nordic Hydra Aerating Gel Mask &amp; an overnight mask I can't remember the name of.  Worked OK but the scent was overwhelming

I'm looking to try out some gentle cleanser/moisturizer, and I've been looking at the Avene Tolérance &amp; Xeracalm and the LRP Toleriane and Lipikar Range... Any products you would recommend? Which do you prefer? 

Do you think they are better than say, CeraVe? Or Aveeno Calm + Restore 

I already have and use 
Avene Cicafalte Cream (too greasy, can only tolerate it when I put it underneath my eyes before applying tret)  
LRP Cicaplast Baume &amp; Gel (prefer Gel)

Avene vs LRP

This is a great moisturizing products. I appear to be allergic to almost everything, get rashes, hives, so this product is perfect for me. I’m also sensitive to fragrances and this has no fragrance that I’m aware of. Perfect for my situation

I (31F) have always had dry skin that, strangely, gets red easily and super shiny all the time on its own, but it doesn't solve the dry feeling at all. 

I have this 7 step routine and have been trying lots of hydrating products (serums and creams like from Clinique, Avene Roseliane, using oils, and many other things), but nothing seems to work. I guess I need more like nourishing creams? Currently, the Avene Roseliane is my daily moisturizer, does something but I still feel my skin is dry - and I guess my skin gets super shiny because it's trying to compensate for the lack of hydration.

Do you have any recommendation for a cream or product that really changed hydrating/nourishing your dry skin?
