Grinding directly into the portafilter gives me pretty flawless bottomless shots where I was needing WDT on the Sette. Of course, this will depend on your beans too. Regarding retention, I get the same output each time. However it does appear some grinds are retained in the Burr chamber so I've set my single shot profile to do a 1.5s purge.

But the search for a decent grinder has been a headache and a half. There are so many damn options. The Sette 270Wi seems like the best pick for that price. Also looking at a used Mazzer Mini.
