I know I'm gonna be stoned for saying all this, but I'm feeling a bit let down by what Battlefield 2042 is going to be. I had been avoiding gameplay videos until today, so my view of the game is a bit one-sided at this moment. However, I think the game is too arcade-ish and pulls closer to that point of arcade-fantasy-fps that I also disliked in games like COD Infinite Warfare.

The game looks amazing, zombies and bosses are genuinely well modelled and look and sound excellent. The finish is great but its the audio on this game which is next level. Footsteps on all surfaces have a unique sound, sand, mud, grass and footsteps on wood and tin sheets let you know where enemy players are and encourage stealth. Crows hiding on fences are disturbed by players and can alert you to a team close by along with caged dogs barking when players are close.

Battlefield 2042 is shaping up to be what nearly every battlefield game since 3 has been at launch: a buggy mess that has potential but isn't worth putting time in until around 6 months to a year later. I had those EA Access trails for 1 and 5 and neither game I would've considered great until much later when it would be on sale for $20 at most, and i sure hope people haven't forgotten how 3 and 4 launched.
