 Very forgiving belt clip. And there is a spring lock here. So this is in the open position. You're going to push down this way and push up for the locking position

Benchmade Mini Barrage 585 review

 The knife has a great blade shape and I believe it will hold a fine edge. The assist mechanism isn't quite 'auto' knife, but it is pretty quick. The knife fits my hand well and I wear large to extra large gloves depending on what type I am using. It isn't a tiny hard to hold nor is it a big sheeple frightening blade

 It has a hollow plastic design that no doubt was to save weight due to the steel liners inside. Other reviews have pointed out that you get a cheap feeling due to this. I agree thus 4 stars instead of 5. I would have liked a more rubberized solid grip even at the expense of more weight! Put this into the Can't Get Everything You Want bucket

Sharp and quality made

  Compared to other knives this size, this knife is heavy and very, very thick. The handle is slightly slippery too, so that could've been better. The Axis assist is awesome, but not really necessary in a knife this size. I think that's probably what makes the knife so thick

  Other than the clip, the knife itself is rock solid. Great assisted opening mechanism.

  Overall, I rate this as one of my best knives, and I own 20 or so from Benchmade, Spyderco, CRKT and Kershaw, some of which are far more expensive.  5 stars..

 I don't mind it, I actually do need, use and like partially serrated blades - so I will keep it (at $83 this is a good deal for a mini Barrage)... but I'm sure there are those out there that will not like the fact this is partially serrated and I thought I'd better warn buyers of that fact

This is a partially serrated model ...

 That way, it does not ever fall open on its own. I carry my barrage in my pocket often and usually don't lock the blade shut with the switch on the knife, but it's probably a good practice to do. I've never had a problem though.  I'm not a huge fan of the plasticy scales (sides of the handle) that come with the knife, but I'd much rather have a stellar blade and locking mechanism than worry about the feel of the handles

 The axis locking mechanism is superb and holds the blade firmly in place with very little wiggle. With a pull on the release mechanism the blade is easy to close, and the way the release is positioned, it ensures your fingers are away from the blade as it's closing. But be careful as with any good knife -- it is sharp!!  The axis-assist open works very reliably and swiftly. As you use the thumb stud to push the blade out of the knife, it crosses a threshold (of about a centimeter open) where the knife opens on its own and locks into place

Great pocket knife

When I received the knife I couldn't get it open. The lock button on top would not depress or slide. In frustration after spending $100 for a knife I emailed the factory. Four days later I received a reply that implied that maybe I wasn't smart enough to own this knife
