 I wanted to create furniture that was customizable for the masses, but I felt like I had to build my own factory to do that from day one. The term Benchmade comes from products being made on top of the worker's bench. We make everything with kiln-dried Alder frames. We don't use any flame retardants

 So I've always felt, let's make the sofa for the room and not for the truck. We'll send you a full-scale plot of that sofa, where you can lay it out on the floor and make sure it's a perfect fit.  (And we took great precautions when unpacking it, thoroughly washing our hands after removing the dirty box it came in before taking the pieces out of the plastic.) Sent photos to Customer Service asking what we could do. No response. Emailed again the next day

The sofa experience was five-star. Swatch kit came quickly. Loved all the fabric choices. Ordering was a breeze

 No response. Emailed again the next day. Crickets. So now we're are left to figure out if and how we can restore this new bed to what should have been its original pristine condition

We bought the Tyler sofa one year ago. It looks great, but we're not happy with it since it's simply not comfortable: Both of us (175 lb and 140 lb) can't sit on the sofa for extended periods of time without feeling uncomfortable. This has two reasons: 1. The sitting depth is too short so you feel as if you are sitting on the edge of your seat

 They use a web type strapping instead of springs and the frame is all solid wood. The fabric is soft and durable and the cushion material is super comfortable and loungey :)

 What other companies let you get right to the CEO for design advice!?!?! - I know that won't scale over time as Benchmade grows, but come on!!! WIth that included I received the best customer service I have ever gotten from a company I have purchased from.

Lisa B from Benchmade was also instrumental in helping me out. I originally wanted to get a 100 inch sofa, but she suggested I take measurements at my condo to ensure it would fit through the hallways. Turns out it would not have made it past the hallways! I ended up getting a sectional with bumper and it was the perfect compliment to the rest of the living room. She also made suggestions on size and proportions of the couch, and it turned out great

For a custom couch, their pricing was on the mark. Plus, with a custom couch, its kind of nice knowing there's not another out there like mine (of course, unless they order the same dimensions and style :).

 I also ordered the trillium pillows, which offer great texture and feel. This was not only an excellent product, but just an overall great buying experience.

 Every other couch we looked at had the chaise hanging *at least* halfway out into the room! We were bumming until we literally Google-stumbled upon BMM. With BMM, we were able to customize the chaise to our desired length, not to mention the width of the couch itself, all to retain a warm and inviting feel in the room. When dealing with a small space, a few inches longer or shorter makes all of the difference. 

We live in a 1907 cottage. The room we are dealing with is long and narrow, so we are very sensitive to our furniture choices creating odd obstacles or virtual hallways everywhere.  I mean the promise of a custom sized sofa with the fabric of our choosing shipped in 10 days seemed too good to be true. Even if they could deliver so expeditiously, was the quality then doomed to be total shit? I can say that these fears were completely and totally unfounded. Our experience was top-notch as is the product we received.

The couch itself is awesome. Dangerously comfy, but not at the risk of looking stylish. We love the modern design that isn't cold or stuffy. 

We ordered the Marlow Asphalt fabric and are really happy with the color (a rich, warm grayish brown), comfort and apparent durability. We have 2 cats and any new upholstered furniture is always a gamble. No matter how much we try to seduce them into using their sheepskin throws, we can't get them off the couch and thankfully the fabric weave makes it really hard for their nails to get stuck in it. They're yet to do any damage

 They said it would be delivered overnight, but it's now three days since our call. Customers should NOT be made to feel like test guinea pigs for a growing company. Unforgivable.

 It looks great in my apartment and I am sure it will serve me well. Thanks to Lisa in the store on Valencia Street and to Federico who kept me posted about delivery and to the two lovely delivery guys who got it into the apartment, unwrapped and themselves out of the door in minimum time with minimum fuss. 

The colour is excellent which was a bit tricky as I only had a small sample to go by but it has turned out to be just right. Lisa kept me updated when there was a slight delay in delivery but arranged to have it delivered on the weekend. It looks great in my apartment and I am sure it will serve me well. Thanks to Lisa in the store on Valencia Street and to Federico who kept me posted about delivery and to the two lovely delivery guys who got it into the apartment, unwrapped and themselves out of the door in minimum time with minimum fuss
