So I just recently moved to my new house where I have a rather large (dark) basement that is ideal for gaming and watching movies. I have been looking around this sub and loads of review sites in order to determine the best projector for this use. I have (so far) narrowed it down to the Epson 3800 or the new BenQ TK700STi.

Ceiling mounting has to be spot on, in game mode all alignment settings are not used to increase speed, so mounting is critical. Using HDR on movies, picture seems darker than id like. The 3D playback is progressive only! Although most reviews says it fully supports 3d, IT DOES NOT support playback ...

I have the BenQTK700STI and I’m loving it for both Gaming and movies/shows. Keep in mind that the zoom only zooms out and not in. To get a 120” HD picture I have mine setting about 10’ from the screen and this would be the minimum distance for that size, not sure the exact measurement but I will check when I get home this evening and update. I play my games with 4K @60htz and it’s amazing!

For the price I paid for this, you'd think they would run perfect, but mine has issues. After one year the projector has two white spots where there is pixel damage and it takes 10 minutes to warm up now, if it does at all. I often have to turn it on/off several times to get a picture.

The best gaming projector as far as input lag and sharpness right now is the BenQ TK700STi. It has mediocre contrast (as does every DLP 4K projector right now) but everything else is really good on it. For your room just paint it as dark and as flat as you can. Sometimes navy walls and a light/mid grey ultra-flat ceiling gets wife approval and it works great for a projector.

Loved the projector for its clarity and features. When mounted upside down had challenges with keystone. Trapezoidal boundary was annoying. Returned it due to that. Kindly fix keystone to be borderless then this can be the best beast. Lenshift addition would make it superior.

I always struggle with purchasing “big” electronics because they’re always just about to be obselete, so for my first projector purchase i went cheaper with the BenQ TK700sti, and when prices for true 4k come down a bit I’ll feel a bit less bad on making an upgrade. I can tell the difference in terms of black levels versus my Samsung Q80, but sharpness of image, pixel shifting does a great job.
