 For those of you doing stuff like rock climbing for example, we've got a lot of gear with you I don't think this pack is for you. Why is that? Well, a negative critique I have about this pack is that there's nowhere on the exterior to attach here that you might carry such as ropes or other accessories except on the shoulder straps, which I think might be a bit inconvenient. Let us know in the comments what you think. Another thing I think this pack is missing is a water bottle holder inside the main compartment

I'm reviewing the stylish, comfortable, yet rugged a multi-use Black Diamond Bullet 16 liter backpack I Picked this up at a local outdoor recreation store at about July of 2016 and I think it's the perfect size for day trips. Somebody carry your stuff around and while you're out and about in your city or town, take with you on a trip or even a day hike. This pack is lightweight, only about 520 grams. It's made of nylon reinforced with something called ballistic nylon which gives it added durability

Sleek backpack with bad inside pocket design

This is a great, well made durable pack that is perfect for the trail. I would not use for long hikes - short day hikes are perfect! Has a space for a water bladder which is a plus! Unfortunately, it does not really fit climbing gear too well - unless you are bouldering. I currently have my harness stored in the pack and that is about it. My shoes are hanging on the straps

New Bullet Daypack

 Loops and gear on the outside would catch rocks and debris and make it tougher to keep the pack on. As it is, it practically disappears while you are wearing it.  I used it on an off-trail hike through this underbrush and very much appreciated this fact.

  At first pass, I can understand where those reviewers were coming from. When you try the pack on empty (or nearly empty) the shoulder straps do slide off your shoulders (I am 5'11" 205 LB male, size LG shirts for reference).  At first this was annoying, but I found that when the pack is loaded down with weight, the shoulder straps gain some friction and it is not much of an issue. They do ride a little wider than my other packs

  I used it on an off-trail hike through this underbrush and very much appreciated this fact.

The only thing keeping this pack from 5 stars for me was the shoulder straps. They are not the deal breaker that other reviews have said, but I think they could be more comfortable if the upper attachment points are brought a little closer together on the next version.

Good pack when used for what it is designed for

My preference in day packs is typically a 2,500-3,500 size pack. That size pack allows enough space to carry everything I will need for a long 10-12 hour outing and emergency gear if I needed to spend the night. This pack being only 1,600 does not allow for that capacity and therefore limits it's scope of use. That said, I will use this pack for those 1/2 day outings to known destinations when I won't need the extra volume or emergency gear

I used this pack on 3 separate occasions. Each outing was a day hike ranging between 6 to 8 miles in length and 3 to 5 hours in duration.

Secondly, the pack is comfortable to wear when fully loaded and adjusted properly to your body size and shape. I found this unusual compared to other small day packs that I have used in the past. Those I found to be uncomfortable and unable to accommodate my 6'-1" 190# frame.

I view the bag primarily from a multi-pitching perspective, but also took at out on some hikes and a bike ride and was most immediately impressed with how comfortable it is to wear and how much I could fit in it without adding bulk. The bag rides high and tight by your shoulder blades without restricting motion while reaching for holds or impeding rear visibility. Compared to prior bags I've owned I was impressed with the Bullet 16's ability to store my guide book, approach shoes, water bottle, beanie, snacks, headlamp, phone, keys without really adding any bulk or restriction. It also has a separate compartment for a bladder that can take up to 3L snugly, quick grab zipper up top with valuables pouch

Comfortable, compact, and surprisingly spacious

 When it was new, it used to wick away water like a rain coat. Now when it rains, it gets completely soaked through.  Some of the stitching inside, underneath the zipper has also frayed and gets caught in the zipper. I will say though that the zippers themselves are some of the nicest and strongest zippers I've ever seen on a backpack

I've had no problems with the zippers at all, even when this thing is loaded to capacity, so solid build quality on that front.  All on all, still a good pack, I may consider getting a new one, but I do have some reservations now about the lifespan of the product

Great little pack but...

For a couple of decades, the Bullet has been a classic, super-burly climbing pack that you can drag up the side of a rock face and not worry about scrapes or holes. BUT, this latest version has a quirk: The straps are wide-set and angled so that the pack best fits somebody built like a football lineman. If you're not that person, the straps will tend to slide off your shoulders frequently (necessitating use of the sternum strap at all times). 

Otherwise, construction and materials -- as usual with BD -- are first-rate. The Bullet works pretty well for climbing or peak-bagging or as carry-on. But those straps, man.
