I had very high hopes and expectations for this knife given lots of positive reviews and the high price tag. However, I was immediately disappointed and I am returning it. Overall, it just doesn't feel very premium. The weight is more or less the same as a standard 119

 There is no way this "pro" version is worth 3x as much as the standard 119. Even if they were priced exactly the same I would choose the original. Lots of people who actually use this knife outdoors say the 420HC steel performs great and is easy to sharpen, and that it's mostly "keyboard warriors" who demand the S35VN who think it's worth 3x the price even though there's not much actual benefit to the average user (Buck uses 420HC as standard for a good reason and it's time proven). My advice is if you're going to buy this "pro" version is to also buy the original to compare them and return the one you don't want

Despite the rather nice appearance, actually holding the knife makes it feel considerably cheaper than it otherwise could, and paying twice as much for a wood handle seems unreasonable at this price point

Decent knife, with some important caveats

as in I guess I got the lemon, but there were black spots in the blood groove and some heat discoloration on the blade. Like someone forgot the finishing touches. It wasn't mentioned as being blemished in the advertisement.

I had wanted one since I was around 8 yrs old, I am now 70 and reliving my childhood....

. the steel is decent though and holds its edge without needing to be reaharpened for a long time..

Not the quality I have grown up to know

I have size Medium in mens gloves and the handle is barely big enough for four of my fingers, and your thumb has absolutely no where to go. There is a reason why you see all the pictures on here with people holding the knife so that the butt of it is in their palm, or their thumb is over the bolster and onto the spine of the blade (which isnt comfortable). The only grip to hold this knife is like a baseball bat which would only be good for hacking, and this knife doesnt seem designed for that.

 So it is difficult to have any control while using it. Even if they made it so that the bolster didnt wrap around the top, so that the handle just smoothly went to the spine of the blade then it would be more functional, but your thumb wanting to go right where the guard is is a terrible design. The handle either needs to be longer or there should be no bolster on top.

  Conclusion: decent clip point blade, atrocious handle. Looks good in a picture though.

 What is this thing made of?  “Made in the USA” is printed on the blade near the pommel. I have to ask..

Deterioration of quality over the years...

  Sheath is great with quality snap. Handle is brilliantly polished and has a wet look to it.  It is a knife that will see use but I like my stuff to look nice. I'm one of those guys that cleans his tools every time they are used and gives them weekly light oil
