 Let'S move on so all of the ingredients that Cambridge are put into this streaming deck, so the power supply the DAC chips, the output stage and the up sampling engine means that it sounds somewhat warm somewhat rounded somewhat burnished in the top-end so compared to the DAC Inside the Hegel, h3. 90. That'S why I picked it because people often ask me: does this external deck sound better than the DAC inside the hagel compared to the Hegel, the Cambridge doesn't quite pull apart. The musical strands like a filo pastry kind of thing, doesn't quite pull them apart, quite as cleanly as the the Hegel and it loses some of the sort of what I call crisp, fried definition in the top end

Cambridge's CXN (V2) is EVERYMAN HI-FI at its finest

 I found that they brought out lots of detail that I had been missing previously. For smallish bookshelf speakers they pack a punch in the low end too and they look awesome to boot!  Even though the rest of the set up has improved, these little speaker continue to deliver and I can't see me changing them out at the moment.

When you go the the shop to buy a new amp and the salesman makes you an offer you can't refuse.

Current set up:

Cambridge Audio CXA61,
Cambridge Audio CXN V2 streamer,
Cambridge Audio CXC Transport,
Rega P2 with stock carbon cartridge,
Schiit Mani Phono preamp,
Monitor Audio bronze 2 speakers.

I went to buy the CXA61 and came home with a matching streamer and CD transport too. 

The Rega has been in the set up for a while and I love it and can't recommend it highly enough. I like the carbon cart too but will consider upgrading it to a Rega Bias when it's done it's time.  The Schiit phono preamp really brings out the highs. There is lots of contrast between all the sounds on the vinyl. I wouldn't say it's better than other phono stages I've tried but it's a very clear and unique sound, although, it might not be to everyone's taste. I took some time to adjust to it but now I really enjoy it.

As for the Cambridge Audio units, I am clearly a bit of a fan and really like them. I have owned a few previously that served me well and always find myself returning to this brand.  I think they're a good balance of value and quality.  I was a little concerned at first that the CXA61 doesn't have tone controls but it sounds great without any adjustments. It's full and warm and bassy even at low volumes and really comes alive when you turn it up a bit.  The soundstage feels broad and distinct. 

The streamer is my first one and I'm still getting used to it, I've played with streaming files from my LAN but I think I need to work on my music library and organisation a bit to get the most from it. Recently it's been on internet radio and Spotify duty and it's fantastically convenient for that. Having only previously had cheap second hand Grundig and Pioneer CD players, the transport is a step up just in the construction alone. It's nice that it runs silently unlike my previous ones that I could always hear spinning away.

The now discontinued monitor Audio bronze 2 speakers might be my favourite part of the set up even though they are probably the cheapest component. They were the first speakers that I bought from new and I was immediately blown away by the quality of them. I found that they brought out lots of detail that I had been missing previously. For smallish bookshelf speakers they pack a punch in the low end too and they look awesome to boot!  Even though the rest of the set up has improved, these little speaker continue to deliver and I can't see me changing them out at the moment.

I picked up the Audio Bronze 2's a couple months ago from Facebook MarketPlace for £150.

What I thought would be an upgrade until I move into my own home has turned into a set of speakers that don't think I'll ever get rid of. Such a beautiful pair of speakers.

Yep, all good equipment.
Pretty sure the cxa61 has the newer DAC but the cxn has a better one. Bronze 2's are great speakers, worth a lot more than they were priced at.
Use MA silver 1's with CXA80 myself.

When the salesman makes you an offer you can't refuse

Sounds Excellent, Has Software Annoyances.

 But i'm going to rank this in a few different categories. From one to five, one been the absolute worst and five being the absolute best, the first category, i'm gon na rank is design, and i give this a four and a half out of five overall, i really like the way this looks. I, like the luna gray surface finish. It has a classic

 I mean it didn't have any additional color, it didn't add anything to the music it just played it like it was supposed to be played. I compared it to cds that i owned listening to both kobus and tidal on their cd quality levels, and i could not tell a difference whatsoever between the cxn and the cd i was playing. I went back and forth forward and back and just listened and i just enjoyed both. Sometimes when you listen to things, you know you kind of find like you're enjoying one

 The a61 and cx-81 also have this luna gray surface finish. So if you buy one or both of those, you will have a matching set, and i like that, the rest of the box is in black, but again, you've got this great finish up front right here. Up top is the cambridge audio logo and just below that is the power button. So you push that button and the power turns on the other basic knob over here

Usually, these things are black, but cambridge audio went with luna gray and i, like it, the rest of the cx line, including the cd player, the cxc and the power amplifiers

Cambridge Audio CXN (V2) Network Audio Streamer || Full Review

 I always wanted to buy speakers but didn’t have the room for it. Now that moved out my parents’ home (I’m 25 btw) I have my own space and enough experience for putting together a serious hifi system.

While I was in college I worked as a salesrep in a hifi department at an electronic store. I got to test numerous systems for free and everything you see was bought second hand (except TV). Initially I wanted to buy a completely different setup, but some serious offers introduced me to this setup:

Amp:

Unison Research Unico

I considered to buy the Rega Brio-R before my colleague from work showed me a used Italian amp which had tubes in its preamp stage. I bought it for 600€ instead of the normal asking price of 1.200€. The Unico sounded like a vintage Class-A Amp with a good amount of resolution. The bass was very dry for a sub 2000€ amp. I could distinguish every bass note with ease. Bass extension was also exceptional with a lot of reserves for deep bass slams. The mids are what makes this amp so mesmerizing. I heard a lot of Yamaha and Denon amps and I always hated the sterile and cold presentation of vocals on these amps. British amps like Rega and Exposure sounded far more alive and fun. The vocals on the Unico sound alive and you feel like the performance is front of you with good separation between the instruments. Although it is a hybrid Amp with tubes in its preamp stage it does not sound tubey in the highs. They sound rather well extended and airy. The tubes make everything sound alive and the soundstage a bit wider. 

Speakers:

Elac Adante AS-61

Once again, I considered to buy a different set of speakers before I auditioned the floor standing Elac Adante AF-61. I wanted to buy the Triangle Elara LN-05 in white, because I already heard them extensively at my friend’s apartment. At work we had a lot of Triangle and Focal speakers. I loved them, because of their super wide soundstage (focal) and their effortless presentation of music (focal, triangle). When I came across the Elac Adante AF-61 I was surprised about the insane detail retrieval these can achieve. The soundstage was also wide, and these rivaled the Focal Kanta nr.2 closely at a 1/3 of the price. The floor standing version was still too big for my small apartment, so I bought the bookshelf version of the Adante series for 1500€ with its original stands and Viablue Speaker cables from ebay. At first, I put them on the stands, and they looked like they were occupying the whole room with their enormous size and weight of 14 kg/each. Consequently, my girlfriend was not amused that I just destroyed the clean look of our living room. Wife factor was high before I bought them, but after putting them on a stand they look quite big compared to a 25m2 room. I modified the stands to angled floor plates and I decoupled the speaker from the floor plate with pro-ject damp-it isolators. The soundstage is of course lower, but the wife factor is high again. The double-edged sword of this speaker is the crystal-clear clarity in which it represents music. Luckily for me I don’t listen to a lot of old recordings which may have been bad recorded. These speakers don’t hide anything. Bad recordings will sound flat and sometimes a bit harsh. Good recordings will shine, and you’ll forget that you listening to speakers. I like to pair speakers with good detail retrieval with warmer sounding amps and cool sounding amps with warmer speakers. The Italian Unico amp complements the Elac’s nicely. The amp makes them smoother and more alive in the midrange. 

Streamer:

Since my amp is no digital inputs, I wanted a DAC and Streamer in one box. The Cambridge CXN V2 was the perfect fit and I bought it used (display unit) for 899€. Once Again, I don’t like the super clean sound of a state-of-the-art DAC like the ESS Sabre which you can find in most AV receivers. The warmer sound of the Wolfram DAC chips in the Cambridge are better suited for my system. I use it for listening to Spotify, Tidal and my TV via Toslink. It sounds neutral and good, nothing more to say here.

Samsung The Frame 55” 2019

It looks stunning if mounted to the wall. I hid the cable from the tv box in the wall to sell effect even more. It doesn’t have super deep blacks like an OLED, but I’m still very happy with the picture quality. 

I hope this gives you insight into why I chose some parts over others. Until a few months ago I listened to music solely through my headphones (Fidelio X2) on my PC. I always wanted to buy speakers but didn’t have the room for it. Now that moved out my parents’ home (I’m 25 btw) I have my own space and enough experience for putting together a serious hifi system.

Perfect, but way too expensive!

2 inches deep! It'S got a nice build quality, but I wouldn't say it feels exactly premium. I believe they have more premium offerings in their higher-end line up on the front of the brushed aluminum fascia starting from left to right is the power button. The USB input a 4.3 inch color LCD display, flanked by control buttons and a rotary knob on the right that can be used for menu selection or as a volume control
