The camera shake that occurs from the impact of an SLR's mirror can leave blurred details in the recorded image. This effect is magnified when working with a super high-resolution sensor like the one found in the EOS 5DS R camera. To counter the effects of conventional, spring-driven SLR mirrors, the EOS 5DS R features a newly developed Mirror Vibration Control system. The camera's mirror is not controlled by springs but instead is driven by a small motor and cams. This system suppresses the impact typical of the camera's mirror, significantly reducing impact and its effects on the image. A new Time Release Lag setting, easily accessed on the EOS 5DS R's menu system offers added protection against camera-shake blur by setting the shutter release time intentionally longer so the camera does not begin the exposure until after the impact of the camera's mirror has diffused.

ANTI-FLICKER FEATURE
With Canon's Anti-flicker function, the EOS 5DS R camera is able to deliver accurate results under cycling lighting situations. Under flickering light, such as fluorescent lighting, a fast shutter speed may result in an irregular exposure. The EOS 5DS R's Anti-flicker function detects the frequency and phase of the flicker and captures images near the point of peak brightness when the subject is most likely well illuminated.

The EOS 5DS R camera offers time-lapse fixed-point shooting and long exposures without the need for a remote control.  You could look at it either one of two ways. You could save $200 and still get incredibly sharp images with the S or you could think that if you're spending this amount of money anyway why not go the whole hog and get the R. The 5DS and 5DS R might not be exciting updates. It is all about that increase in resolution really but they're not exactly the next evolution in the 5D Mark series anyway

 Oh got it? Yes. Yes the images are quite extraordinary. The ARS files are sharp with the delicate fine details rendered with such crispness. The S is no slouch either however

 So the 5DS R should be a bit sharper. The thing is, the supposed lack of anti-aliasing filter with the R is implemented in the same way as the Nikon D800e, in that it does have a filter. It's just that the effect is cancelled out. Whatever megapixel count has been bumped up to 50 megapixels, there are compromises

 It's also got a new metering system, which is new. So you've got all the other latest Canon features. Anti flicker shoot. It's for people who don't like flicker

 The 5DS and 5DS R might not be exciting updates. It is all about that increase in resolution really but they're not exactly the next evolution in the 5D Mark series anyway. Resolution will appeal to those who need to produce images that can print big or that need all that detail or enthusiasts with a liking for ridiculously detailed images will flock to them too. Either way they will appeal to people who already know why they need one

I’ve been shooting canon dslr for a long long time and want to stick with them due to my lens investment. I’ve recently gotten into doing more paid work; mainly fashion, portrait(outdoor and studio) but may do some events as well. How does the focus and overall camera compare to something like a 5DIV or my 6D? I’d probably go with the 5DIV ideally but it would be a 2-3x higher investment right now and I won’t be able to afford that at this time. The resolution is also a plus for fashion that I want to focus on. I don’t shoot above iso 800 often but was wondering if anyone had experience with the 5DSR in low light? Same or better than the 6D in terms of noise and focusing? I’m on a tight tight budget and the upgrade will cost me only $600Cdn for a new 5DSR once I sell my camera.

Really Like this Camera.

 I use the 16 to 35 2.8, use the 24 to 70 2.8, the brand new 11 to 24 F4 and of course the 70 to 200 2.8

6 megapixels of goodness on this sensor, it's going to be important to use the best of the best glass with Honor Sur. So any of the newer L lenses are going to be better options to use. I use the 16 to 35 2.8, use the 24 to 70 2

 How can you forget the 85 1.2, the 50 1.2, those are the type of lenses that you would put on this especially for landscapes and especially when you're shooting portraits. The best glass is what you want to put on this

 I went out and shot this for the real world review at the Grand Canyon to put it through its paces to really put it out there and try to use it to the best of its ability. Now I didn't shoot portraits but this is a great camera designed for portraits as well. Well you have to decide, do you want the R or do you want the S because if you're going to shoot portraits with the R and you have fine patterns in shirts, you may get some moraying but who is this camera for? One we said landscape shooters, two we've got portrait photographers but is it for people shooting video? If you're looking to shoot video, this is not the camera for you. So before we jump into anything else, here's why it's not for video

 So you know this was a fantastic camera. Yes it didn't change very much in terms of the design of the camera but it's the innards that matter, the larger megapixel sensor, the ability that you can cancel the low pass filter with the 5D SR version. The quicker transfer rates that you can do if you're shooting tethered for the studio but in my real world review out at the Grand Canyon, I used it for the landscapes. I'm very happy with the colors, the sharpness, the quality, the feel of the camera

Canon 5DS R Real World Review

I've been shooting on a Canon EOS 7D for several years. I like it, but the file sizes are too small to print as large as I want to. I'm considering going the mirrorless route and I'm looking at the R and the RP right now. I'm looking at used and refurbished models to keep the cost down and always have a hard time making a decision when it comes to buying new gear. For context, I'm currently in an MFA Studio Art program and I do occasionally do headshots and portraits but I'm in no way a professional photographer with a big client list. I mostly shoot landscapes and I've gotten into self-portraiture for my fine art work. I'd consider purchasing another DSLR but mirrorless is appealing since the cameras are so much more lightweight. And I 100% want to stick with Canon so I can continue using the lenses I have.

I&#39;m considering going the mirrorless route and I&#39;m looking at the R and the RP right now. I&#39;m looking at used and refurbished models to keep the cost down and always have a hard time making a decision when it comes to buying new gear. For context, I&#39;m currently in an MFA Studio Art program and I do occasionally do headshots and portraits but I&#39;m in no way a professional photographer with a big client list. Upgrading from my Canon EOS 7D to...what?

Works as designed but there is room for improvement.

 It's confusing the way they made it. But it's so indistinguishably different in terms of image quality and usability that if I would save a quick buck by going with the S over the R, I would pick the S over the R. The only reason you might want the R is that the resale value seems to hold up a bit better than the S. But that also makes the S a far more potentially value for money option in the secondhand market

 But what about image quality? In terms of image quality, as I said, there is no real difference between this and the 45 megapixel cameras, especially when you trade in those modern specs and mirrorless advantages. Dynamic range has always been lagging behind during this era with Canon, whereas others have used Sony sensors with improved dynamic range, even in 2015 standards. Canon tried to wrestle the market by having more megapixels instead. So after having bashed this poor Canon R for the first half of this video, I guess it's time to start talking about the good points about it, the reasons to buy the camera

 Even by today's standards, it competes up against the best of the best of them today. Maybe I can use this 5DS as a glorified 50 megapixels sacrificial GoPro camera, but for everyone else who don't tick all those boxes, it pains me to say it, but I'd go elsewhere. I feel so bad bashing a camera that has served me so well for the last five years. It's helped me create some of the best photography to date in my portfolio, but just as ruthlessly accountable we are as photographers to our clients, so too should the camera industry be accountable to us as their customers

 And I think the camera can be well suited to in 2020. If the megapixels matter to you for whatever personal reason you have, if you have invested in Canon EF glass already, if you are on a bit of a budget, and if you don't mind buying used or gray import products, if you're a methodical type of shooter and you can take your time setting up your shot, whether it's studio photography, architecture, or landscapes, and if you really, really don't want to jump to mirrorless, but most importantly of all, if you can get it for a really, really, and I mean really good price, then the 5DSR does represent really good value for 2020 standards. Heck, for that 1200 US dollar for a brand new 5DS, heck, I would consider buying one just as a backup of a backup of a backup body. The image quality that you can still get out of that camera is fantastic

Canon 5DsR / 5Ds in 2020? A brutally honest take after using it for 5 years.

 Colors were excellent, editing was super easy. I love this resolution. It’s huge upgrade for me here over 5D Mark iii, 5 out of 5 without any hesitation. Wildlife/birds: I used a Gimbal head tripod for most of these shots

 Landscape: Most of the time I used a tripod. Lenses used are 24-70mm f/2.8, 16-35mm f/2.8 and 70-200mm f/2

 It’s huge upgrade for me here over 5D Mark iii, 5 out of 5 without any hesitation. Wildlife/birds: I used a Gimbal head tripod for most of these shots. Lenses used are Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 (with and without 2x extender), Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6

 Outdoor and indoor portraits: All handheld shots. Lenses used are 24-70mm f/2.8, 70-200mm f/2.8 (Canon brands), Sigma brands 35mm art f/1

Excellent choice for landscape and protraits

I think both have their pros and cons but if you would have to choose either mirrorless or dslr in 2021 regardless of your past gear and lenses which would you choose?why?and which camera specifically?Please argument your choice in comments. I'm really interested in all responses.
