I don't even take it out for scenery and what not because I have better results using my phone!. I am guessing this is an issue with light levels, aperture, and shutter speed. I've tried using the automatic "sport" mode as well as manually messing with the settings. Looking at a recent event, I typically couldn't go faster than 1/200, sometimes only 1/50 and that's with the widest aperture at 4.5mm.

The auto-focus often times will take so long to find the car, that I've missed the shot I wanted to capture and I've had to become good at pre-focusing on something else and praying it doesn't try to focus all the way in and out before finding the car again. Low light is just non-existent with this setup. I shoot at 1/80 or 1/100 almost exclusively to get the proper motion in the shot, and this setup only goes to ISO 1600, which is extremely grainy and still doesn't capture what I need.
