Nothing 'nifty' about this fifty... poor choice for R10 owners.

 But it allows you to make a mold, and companies have done this for years, and you get a really high level of consistency. You also get a lens that's very affordable. You also get a lens that's very lightweight, but I think that's kind of one of the secrets in there. I think it's a really smart idea on Canon's part because all of a sudden, you have a lens that is very affordable, that is very consistent, and the image quality is pretty good

 It features seven aperture blades, STM focusing or stepping motor. It also features Canon's Super Spectra coating, so you can expect very decent contrast. I love that it's lightweight. And with all of the RF lenses, we have a control ring that goes around the lens

 And when they tore down the EF 50mm F1.8, they noticed that there was just an incredible level of consistency across the board. I have the feeling that one of the reasons why is I'm pretty sure Canon are using plastic elements in these lenses. They mentioned that the aspherical element in here is an MPO, which I can't find what that stands for anywhere on Canon's website, but I would imagine molded plastic is what we're talking about

 So I think Canon have done an A-plus job on this. There's two other lenses in this lineup too. One of them is this one, which is the 35mm F1.8 macro lens, and there also is a 85mm F2 STM macro lens also

Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 - Its REALLY good

 I ordered this lens for a trip we were taking and was due to arrive the day before we left. The lens arrived and I opened it to find someone had opened it, repackaged it poorly and the rear dust cap was MISSING. I've ordered other lenses from Amazon and have never had this problem, so I was pretty shocked to find I was shipped a USED lens. And just to clarify, I did not order this from the Amazon Warehouse

 So it's got this really nice premium plastic construction, but it has got a decent metal mount. But due to the size of it, it makes it feel quite sturdy to the feel. It's also got this really nice kind of padded focus ring that you can find on the front. It's really kind of good to move, but again, it is just fly by wire, so there is no full time manual focus mode

 If we go and have a look at a lot of the new mirrorless lenses these lenses are incredibly expensive. The closest lens you can realistically find is the 35mm f1.8 which is a fairly reasonable price of just over £500 but apart from that all the other pretty much L glass lenses are really expensive and most of them are even over £2000 to even £3000. So if you are after an incredibly cheap 50mm prime lens for the RF mount this lens is pretty much going to be the only lens but also one of the cheapest lenses you can purchase

8. So the next thing I want to talk about is the overall image quality of this lens, and is it worth an upgrade over the older EF 50mm f1.8? Well, to be honest, I didn't notice much of a difference, especially if you had a look at the colours or even the resolution. Both of these lenses are quite sharp

8 for the new mirrorless system and I say it is a really decent lens and it's finally nice to actually own a 50mm f1.8 that isn't that expensive and that I can finally place a native lens onto my new mirrorless camera. It's a fine lens. Every Canon shooter should have a Nifty Fifty in their bag. They're very packable, and provide acceptable image quality for a variety of scenarios. The 50mm focal length, the no matter which lens, is a good all-arounder

 It's annoying because It doesn't look good. I'm trying to focus on a subject and it has that blurry look on half my subject, I checked my camera settings and no matter what I change it to still does the same thing. I'm returning this lens. Sorry Amazon I know is not your fault but I can't use this lens

WON'T STOP SEARCHING FOR FOCUS POINTS

 The second part of that autofocus was that the autofocus is actually just a little bit noisy. So when the lens is focusing there are pieces in the lens that are moving in and out and you can really hear it. Yeah, it's not crazy loud but it is loud enough to hear it and to be picked up a little bit on a microphone. The third con would be the build quality

 What I did love about this lens is the image quality. It was super fast at 1.8 so I was able to get a really nice shallow depth of field, nice bokeh, and be able to shoot in a little bit darker situations in the forest. And so like I had mentioned in the cons, the price

 I wanted to make this a short and sweet video. It's not going to be scientific or doing a deep dive into this lens. I just took this lens out on a shoot for a brand and wanted to see what it could do in a real world application and then be able to share that with you guys. And so all of the footage that you just saw was from the RF 50mm f1

8 so I was able to get a really nice shallow depth of field, nice bokeh, and be able to shoot in a little bit darker situations in the forest. And so like I had mentioned in the cons, the price. It's a $200 lens and for that image quality it is a great price point to grab this lens at. And lastly, like I had mentioned, this thing is tiny, it is small, it is light

8 lens in its built quality, although the RF mount version feels just a little more solidly made. The control ring at the front has its uses, although, as I mentioned, it is a bit awkward to use it while half pressing the shutter button all the time. The great news is that it can focus as closely as 30cm to your subject. It's no macro lens, but that's a lot closer than normal for a 50mm optic

8, and image quality gets a lot better, and at f4 it's finally very sharp again close up. Now let's see how the lens performs against bright light. It's pretty bad news here. The lens displays a lot of flaring, and a considerable loss in contrast when bright lights are in, or on the edge of, the picture

 This RF lens is only for Canon's full frame EOS R mirrorless cameras, and I'll soon be making a video directly comparing this RF lens with Canon's older EF 50mm f1.8 STM to see what the differences are. Anyway, let's take a look at its build quality first. The lens is small and looks quite nicely designed, I think being a good match for Canon's EOS R system cameras, especially if you have a smaller one, unlike this relatively large EOS R5
