If you're on the hunt for an excellent all-around cot, it's hard to beat the Coleman Pack-Away Cot. This model is a cinch to set up and take down, taking only a few minutes with its mostly unibody construction. It offers tons of support for both back and side sleepers and doesn't have any bars across your head or feet to hit during the night. It folds up into a relatively compact form, isn't too heavy, and seems to be built very sturdily, though it definitely isn't made for backpacking. 
Our main issue with this cot is that it doesn't lock into the unfolded position. This was never an issue once it was set up; however, the legs tended to buckle if we found ourselves dragging it around the campsite. This meant it always warranted a little extra caution to make sure the legs were in the correct position before sitting down as well. It could also be a bit temperamental on uneven ground. Regardless, it's one of our all-time favorite sleeping solutions when camping, and we would highly recommend it to anyone who wants a top-tier cot.

What is the best tent cot?

 To me this end and the other end are really really held up just by tension and weight. That to me is a little nerve-wracking. I'm actually on a little bit of a slope and so last night thank god it didn't move at all but I stretched them out as far as possible. And that's really the only complaint I have about the cot

 There's no cross bar in the middle. There's no cross bar at the very end. So it makes for a very comfortable night of sleeping and the best thing about this cot is how easy it folds up. It folds up a lot easier than that

Coleman Pack-Away Cot - Insane Review!!!

We use a combo of the Coleman Pack-Away camping cot with either a Qomotop or Lost Horizon 4" self-inflating sleeping pad on top. The two together makes it as comfortable as your bed at home, with the added bonus of being able to get out of bed normally instead of getting up off the floor (a real consideration if you have joint/mobility issues).

I’m a total noob to the camping world, but desperately missing hiking and kayaking since becoming ill. Camping seems to be a good way to get me back in the woods in a way that would be good for my body. Would love any and all tips!

Chronic illness gal wondering: What is your favorite brand of tent AND sleeping pads/bags for a family of 3? We’re in Tennessee and would mostly be camping in the fall and spring or the mild winter weeks. Big no to summer camping here 🥵

I've been camping since I was five years old, I'm 33 now and I just can't hang like I used to. I don't want to completely toss the idea of camping all together and feel quite overwhelmed when it comes to all of the options out there. Do I get a thick foam pad and just call it a day? Would love to hear what you all are using and enjoying. Especially those over the age of 30 😏

How to upgrade the sleeping experience of camping

I too am a side sleeper and I have a $60 Coleman cot, a $60 Coleman mummy bag, a $30 Gear Doctor sleeping pad, and a $15 Heat-A-Seat from Walmart as a pillow for my casual sleeping system and it works great for me.

I knew this would be an issue but I genuinely thought it wouldn't be as much an issue as it was. 

I can't sleep on my back, I have an eye thing that means I try to avoid looking up as best I can (rip star gazing) and so I sleep on my sides and chest. 

I was worried that I'd have trouble sleeping on my side in a mummy sleeping bag due to space, I wasn't worried about the quality of sleep.

Finally, *finally* went camping this past weekend, and I had a lot of trouble sleeping. I don't think it was all due to discomfort but it definitely played a part.

So, my question for value of purchase - what would do me the best to improve quality of sleep for sleeping on my sides (where my arm is incredibly unfortable) or chest (where my chest felt a little too compressed)?

I have a self inflating pad but it clearly didn't create a soft enough space, and I'm not expecting to get bed quality comfort. But all I can think of for now is getting one of those egg carton pads or just a second actual pad (or maybe thicker/higher quality one) but I don't want to invest without doing a little research, which this is a part of.

I appreciate it. I really want to continue camping, and I don't want this to ruin it for me. If I go car camping again I'll probably just bring an army supply of blankets but I can't always count on that.
