Review Of The Creality Ender-5 3D Printer | Most Stable Ender?

Would you pay $750 for the pictured printer and filament? Owner said he bought it to get in to printing but didn't have time once he realized how involved it can be, less than a roll has been printed on it.

 Most of the stuff that was missing is easy enough to replace so I'm more concerned that the printer itself works as it should. Currently I'm printing the test dog and everything seems to be going good. It's pretty much just a coaster right now as only the base is done. I guess I learned my lesson about waiting so long to open stuff like this

 Not sure if this was a used return passed off onto me or a poorly refurbished unit. Either way when you shop around and pay full price for a new item then that is what you should expect to be delivered to your door. Make sure you get it set up before the return window closes...

As somebody that has an ergodox ez, moonlander, iris, corne, kyria and a dactyl manuform, I have to say that the DM's thumb cluster, while weird for sure, is the most usable. I can actually hit every key (especially with sculpted caps), and that's a big thing.

The 5x6 may be what you want, there are also larger ones.

Hi  everybody, I'm planning to build a Dactyl Manuform and I'm not quite  sure what resources to use. There are roughly a million github-pages and  tons of different variants.

So let me first tell you what I'm planning and then ask for advice.

What I would like to build:

* A  split keyboard with ortholinear rows. I don't care about the keys  arching around your fingers, but what I really like about the Dactyl Manuform is that

* I'd prefer something big like 7x6 (three pinky-rows), but I can settle for a 7x5 or 6x5 if necessary.
* I'd like to be able to exchange key-swiches, just for repairability.
* I'm fine with soldering stuff myself. Of course it's nice to  do as little work as possible though.

Advice for first time Dactyl Manuform Build?

 (May be fixed on new models).  I bought this to add to the "farm" to print PPE and I have yet to produce a single PPE of sufficient quality for delivery. All I have to show for this purchase so far is hours wasted and ~300G of failed prints.  UPDATED: Bumping up the review by a star because Comgrow has been supportive and sent me a replacement (Creality brand) fan and a 1KG spool of PLA for my troubles

How many printers do you have?

This is the first Creality product I've ever bought, and the last I will ever waste money on. I've had six different printers now and this has more problems than every other one combined. The repeatable failure is a massive layer shift on the X axis at the same layer, in the same direction, with the same distance every time; the bed doesn't move, I've tried adjusting the belt tension, the carriage tension, and different code from different computers, different SD cards, and different filament, but nothing has fixed this. This is the final straw and I just don't want to deal with this printer anymore

* Your budget, set at a numeric amount. Saying "cheap," or "money is not a problem" is not an answer people can do much with. 3D printers can cost $100, they can cost $10,000,000, and anywhere in between. A rough idea of what you're looking for is essential to figuring out anything else.
* Your country of residence.
* If you are willing to build the printer from a kit, and what your level of experience is with electronic maintenance and construction if so.
* What you wish to do with the printer.
* Any extenuating circumstances that would restrict you from using machines that would otherwise fit your needs (limited space for the printer, enclosure requirement, must be purchased through educational intermediary, etc).

While this is by no means an exhaustive list of what can be included in your posts, these questions should help paint enough of a picture to get started. Don't be afraid to ask more questions, and never worry about asking too many. The people posting in this thread are here because they want to give advice, and any questions you have answered may be useful to others later on, when they read through this thread looking for answers of their own. Everyone here was new once, so chances are whoever is replying to you has a good idea of how you feel currently.

Additionally, a quick word on print quality: Most FDM/FFF (that is, filament based) printers are capable of approximately the same tolerances and print appearance, as the biggest limiting factor is in the nature of extruded plastic. **Asking if a machine has "good prints," or saying "I don't expect the best quality for $xxx" isn't actually relevant for the most part** with regards to these machines. Should you need additional detail and higher tolerances, you may want to explore SLA, DLP, and other photoresin options, as those *do* offer an increase in overall quality.

Purchase Advice Megathread: What To Buy, Who To Buy It From, And More, In January 2021

The prints coming out of this printer are top-notch. The problem is it will always need to be connected to my computer. I've tried 5 micro SD cards now and Pronterface shows SD Card Read Errors on every last one of them.  It's bad enough that if I'm trying to print from a micro SD, I can be certain that the printer will freeze up and it will just be a waste of filament
