 If I go up a band size it's too loose and that is worse because then you loose the support. I don't want an ugly bra. I would like my lingerie to be attractive and functional. Alright, so I guess I have a few questions but I might make some separate posts later. I’m mostly just baffled about the size the calculator gave me. My measurements are as follows.
Loose underbust: 41 in.
Snug underbust: 38 in.
Tight underbust: 36 in.
Standing bust: 47 in.
Leaning bust: 53 in.
Lying bust: 49 in.
I’m currently wearing a 40DD from VS, and the calculator sized me at a 38J(US)/38GG(UK) and I’m in complete shock about it.

My current bra is just awful. It hurts to wear. The band won’t sit at the root of my breasts, the wires stab into my armpits, and there’s somehow simultaneously gapping and overflow. I have projected breasts (I think), and they’re very pendulous. They’re full on the top, and about even horizontally. I’ve had no pregnancies, and no surgeries. I really need some help, I’m in desperate need of some new bras. I’ve had the same bra for years and it’s terrible. 

The only reason I’ve had it for so long is because I HATE bra shopping - when I bought this bra, the VS associate who sized me gave me a size smaller than the bra I had at the time (which was too small). I told her that the size she gave me wasn’t right, and instead of admitting that she was wrong, she told me my breasts were “too saggy to measure,” and then they all basically bullied me into buying my current god awful bra. I haven’t wanted to go bra shopping since. 

Anyway, sorry for the tiny rant. I’ll try and sum this up. My new size just does not seem right to me, and I could really use some help. Some suggestions on where to start looking for a new bra would be appreciated too. I moved from the US to Australia a few years ago, so Australian/International vendors are a must. I can’t afford very much, so the cheaper end of things would be appreciated, but if the bra is worth it, then I’ll absolutely start putting the money aside for it. Thank you in advance for all your help! I am loving this subreddit already.

[Measurement Check] Current bra is 40DD (US) calculator says 38J

  The latte color: OMG these straps are a NIGHTMARE even when let all the way out they are SO SHORT. Like for someone without a torso.  The bras came in two different packages from two different sellers, and the Latte was all branded, even had a sewn size tag on the strap so you knew it hadn't been tampered with, and of course the Curvy Kate cardboard tag with the size and suggested retail price. The black? No cardboard tags

 Was it used? Who knows. But beware, some quality control issues there!  Sizing wise, this fits as expected. I'm a 30FF UK in Fantasie/Freya/Bravissimo, and this fit in that sizing.

Is that correct? If so, it would explain why bras LITERALLY NEVER FIT ME. Anyone have recommendations on where to get bras this unique without breaking the bank?

Wait - Am I really a 32J? Is that even a size?!

 Unfortunately, even with that alteration, the folded-over band still manages to dig in, and halfway through the day I start fidgeting with it -- kind of awkward in the middle of a staff meeting.  The fit is close-set, a little shallow (rather, it's full but not full enough for me) and meant for a more splayed shape, but it works.

 It didn't even last the day before I had a painful red line carved into my skin. So I folded the bottom of the band up onto the wire and sewed it in place, which worked for another bra I own. Unfortunately, even with that alteration, the folded-over band still manages to dig in, and halfway through the day I start fidgeting with it -- kind of awkward in the middle of a staff meeting. Left breast is full on top while right breast is full on bottom. Which boob do I shop for?

 Wont use HerRoom again, as their "experts" don't actually give advice that I couldn't figure out on my own, "like if the band is too tight, try going up a size" They also charged me shipping to return. I will stick to Amazon from now on!

Cup size too small. The rest of the bra fits well. After trying two different sizes I decided to keep the smaller cup bra because the other was too big. I am usually 34GG but tried 36GG which was too big in cup and back so had to settle for 34GG but cup was too small
