The Best $50 Spinning Reel? Daiwa Regal LT 1000D

I'm looking to spend a bit of money on my father this holiday season, who is an enthusiastic and experienced trout fisherman.  I know that he has a quite nice rod, but do not believe that he typically spends much on his reels.  With a relatively unlimited budget (in the $200-300 range), is there a consensus best (spinning) reel/line of reels on the market?

For context, he typically fishes streams stocked with medium sized trout with lightweight gear, rather than hunting monsters.

I have some experience trout fishing as well, but am not at all informed about gear for those with more discerning tastes.  There are a number of different opinions on google, and a bunch of sites that appear to be more advertising than anything.  Any opinions or direction to some good sources would be appreciated.

Looking to gift a high end reel to trout fishing enthusiast

So my first impression of this real life using caching maybe 10 bass on and a couple pickle roll is I like it some retails for right around $60 it's it's a nice smooth real. it's hard for me to tell how far it actually cast because my right now Myra the rod I'm using yeah one of the eyes is broke off I'm actually it's in the shop right now getting repaired so that was really affecting my cast. It's just it's really hard for me to tell you how hard casts but I can tell you it like it's light enough I think it's seven point two ounces actually on the boxer here

 If you use drag, you say your hook right and then you can loosen up on that drag. especially if you use a light tackle so that they won't break step, align or break your pool. but it just looks good. Nice colors

Daiwa Regal LT Review

The Daiwa Exist LT is also a dream of a reel, and in some ways it is even more refined than the Stella, but I personally find Shimano's have the edge for durability. For a more sensible budget then it is between the Shimano Vanford (carbon body) or the Shimano Stradic FL (Aluminium body). I have a 12 year old Stradic which is still smooth, they really are impossible to beat for the money.

Looking for input on what people think is the best spinning reel on the market. I am a long time avid fisherman who is a bit rough on things from time to time. I have gone through several Pfluger reels which are nice but always seem to start slipping gears after awhile. I am not scared off by a high price tag but want to know it’s quality and can stand up to some heavy usage. Thanks in advance.

Nice size and SMOOTH.

If looking for something you won’t have to upgrade in the future go with a daiwa regal lt reel (40-60$) in the 500-1000 size and a st croix premier or panfish ultralight rod (100-130)

Ultralight fishing setup help

I purchased this reel to be a back up unit to my Daiwa BG2000. The Daiwa Regal LT3000D exceeded my expectation in every way and is just as enjoyable to use as the BG. They're both very smooth and feel solid but still different in some ways. The Regal LT is a little lighter but the drag system is more aggressive per click

 I matched it up with its own rod, a Daiwa Presso 9' ultralight. I spooled the Regal with 4# Ande monofilament and love it.
