EVIL X DISSENT 8" ULTRA MTN MERINO SOCKS for biking). It's the most tightly woven wool sock and has a firm cush. There is no sock fluff on my toes or lost wool over time. It maintains its shape

HOWEVER I bought a pair of Olive socks (great, just like my old ones) and a pair of Onyx, and the Onyx were of a totally different quality than the Olive ones. They were about 3 inches longer and not as thick or cushy; a stretched out weave (or even a different weave pattern). I can still see these being a good sock, but it really surprises me that the quality is so different over different colors. Maybe as Darn Tough rapidly expands over models and colors they are still figuring things out

Best Sock Ever but Inconsistent Across Colors

I’ll never buy Smartwool socks again now that I’ve had Darn Tough. They’re just as comfortable as Smartwool, if not slightly better, and they just don’t wear out, which was my issue with Smartwool.

I wear a size 12 in some shoes, a 13 in other shoes (for example my Altras, where I want some extra toe room), and my ski boots are about equivalent to an 11 (tight). I bought a L thinking I didn't want them to be too big and bunch up or anything, but they are too tight, specifically around the area where my foot and ankle connect. I used them on one short hike and I can tell they're nice, but I need to return these and try out the XLs.
