 Dr. Martens is the stuff of legends. It all began near Munich, Germany in 1945 when Dr. Klaus Maertens injured his foot in a skiing accident in the Bavarian Alps. To make walking easier during the healing process, he designed a shoe with an air-cushioned sole. Using old rubber tires, he constructed soles that had air trapped within closed compartments. He showed his prototype to his engineer/inventor friend, Dr. Herbert Funck, and together they decided to develop and produce the shoes. Not only did the shoe solve the doctor's immediate problem, but it also started to sell well in Germany. By 1959 the two decided that they needed a company to produce and distribute the shoes, then called Dr. Maertens, in other parts of the world. At first, many manufacturers rejected the concept of an air cushioned sole as a short-lived gimmick. However, the R. Griggs Group, located in the village of Wollaston in England, decided to go along with the idea by creating the first work boot with the revolutionary sole. On the first of April 1960, the first cherry red eight-eyelet work boot was produced and named 1460. To sell the brand name better in England, the name was anglicized to Dr. Martens. The range was branded AirWair and the rest is history.

 You can find them at Urban Outfitters you know journeys ASOS Nordstrom's but this particular style is sold out online in every store except like the size 12 I Literally called every Doc Martens store in LA and they were sold out everywhere and randomly by chance. I was able to find these in New York and they had these in my size I Would say just call and check the Doc Martens stores around you. If you don't have a Doc Martens store around you, then just keep checking the site because I have a feeling they're gonna be restocking really soon. The sales manager actually told me they were going to do a restock in January but I'm not really sure when in January So you want to keep your eye on the website When it comes to size, these actually run true to size with Doc Martens I Typically would say get a size bigger to make sure they're comfortable, but with these I would say get the real size because if you get a size too big, your heel is gonna slip from the back here when you're walking and it's gonna feel really annoying and it's just gonna look big

 so I found that a size six fits me perfect. Can go to the store and try them on of course. wear a mask, stay safe but it's gonna be really helpful for you to try them on and just walk around the store for a bit. get a feel for them and make sure that they're not hurting you and your heel is not coming out of the bottom

One of the shoes is great!

 That was like the only one that was there and I was just taking a risk and I took that risk. And she was right because when I walk in these I can feel my heel lifting out of the shoe. So she was right because she did say in the comments she was telling people to size down because when she walks her heel lifts up and she wasn't lying. It happens

 So the seven. This is the two of them in comparison. This is a size five of the Nike Air Forces. and then these are the 8,053 dog brands

 But yeah, realistically I feel like if I wore some thick socks I could probably get away with it. But if I'm just trying to wear some like tight leg warmers, I definitely can't pass because like I can literally feel my heel just lifting and lifting each time that I walk. which is kind of annoying. So I wouldn't say they're true to size

I didn't expect a refund or replacement since I had worn them for a year, but it bothers me that they didn't even have to courtesy to respond to my email. I was at least expecting a "sorry it isn't up to our standards" response, or maybe even a coupon for another pair I might want to purchase

I loved these shoes. They fit well, were comfortable, and the leather uppers looked great. After a year, they began to tear away from the sole in a way they could not be re-glued, according to a respected shoe shop where I live. For the price point of these shoes, I guess that is OK, so I gave 3 stars

Really Doc Marten's Reputation?  Quality???

My first pair of Doc's (Made in Great Britan) were incredible! The water proofing and durability were phenonmenal. I wore them on many European trips (and walked all the time..and there was no evidence of wear)

 (The real test for me is the durability and wear isssues). The top shell of the new shoes looks very similar, but the soles are not the same. I like the old Soles of the original shoes (no pun intended) which appear to be a better product!

Ordered to replace my really old Docs, that were UK made. They arrived and the fit and comfort is there, but the quality is not as good as the older UK made docs. However, they are comfortable, and time will tell if they hold up like the real docs.  I plan on updating this review in yearly updates to inform on how they are doing
