The Dynastar M-Pro 84 women's skis are a fantastic choice for intermediate and advanced ladies who are looking to spend most of their time on the front side of the mountain, with a little bit of adventure built in. Thanks to the light weight wood core and fun shaping methods, the skis are best suited for on-trail skiing, and ideally smooth and fun groomers. Built with a poplar wood core, the skis are light yet stable. There's not a whole lot else going on with these skis in terms of material, and what they lack in sophistication, they more than make up for in simplicity. With a shape that's ideal for front-side cruising, the 84 mm waist is a great blend of performance and light weight. They are more of a 5-point sidecut that allows for a shorter turn radius if needed, while the tips and their more tapered shape can cut through the crud and chop if needed. Thanks to this shaping, the skis get their adventurous personality, allowing the skier to greatly dictate when and where to ski and the conditions allowed. With a flatter tail, the skis are able to hold an edge until the end, making the completion of the turn fun, smooth, and responsive.  So while it might fall kind of in that intermediate category in Dynastar's women's line, it actually punches well above that level. A lot of skiers who get on this that are in the advanced to expert category, whether they're through our test or just word of mouth, are pretty darn impressed with the stability and overall composure of this ski.  And one of the most interesting things about this ski is just how simply it's built. Pretty much get a poplar wood core with fiberglass laminate and that's about it. The Dynastar M Pro 84 is a great choice for intermediate level skiers looking for a frontside ski with all mountain characteristics. The Poplar Woodcore will give you a lightweight feel but doesn't lose rigidity or natural vibration dampening. 5 Point Sidecut has reversed sidecut in the tip and tail with traditional sidecut underfoot for riding versatility in different kinds of snow conditions. The Sintered HD Base further improves the glide of the ski to keep up momentum without losing speed. More power transmission as well as balance is added to the 84 with the Full Sandwich Sidewall which stamps the laminates of the ski together for tons of rigidity. The Tip and Tail rocker provide natural flotation by offering a generous rise in the tip and tail. Shred the frontside with the Dynastar M Pro 84.

 Pretty minimal in the rocker profile, so that rocker starts right about here, and that's kind of the widest part of the shovel as well. So really not meant for floating through deep snow, this thing is definitely better suited for groomed terrain, firmer conditions. We get the widest part of the ski back here, a little throwback to the five-point side cut of the Legend Days, but in this M Pro it works pretty well, kind of shortening up that turn shape while leaving a little bit of extra tail for stability and rebound out of the turn there. But very minimal rocker in the tail, that's going to make it much better suited for on-trail groomer skiing, and that's really what this thing is meant to do

 So when they don't have these additional materials to provide more of the energy and pop, they rely on putting that into the camber of the ski, so you do get the good energy out of the turn. Even though it's pegged for that more intermediate to advanced skier, I absolutely had a blast on this ski. I thought it held up really well to higher speeds, so if you're concerned about over skiing it, I wouldn't let that dissuade you from taking a square look at this ski for sure. This is the 177, generates a 17 meter turn radius, right down the middle for what you're looking for for that mid-80s all-mountain groomer ski

 We like to call this the stepping stone of skis, so for the lady looking to get a little bit better and connect her turns from tip to tail and left to right, this would be a great option for you. You'd be able to learn how to really flex the ski underfoot, hold that edge and go through the tails and finish that turn beautifully. What's great about the tip though is it's a little bit more forgiving than some of those frontside carvers out there. It's going to be able to help you get into the turn and actually make your turns more beautiful and link them together

 In front of me I have Dynastar's M-Pro 84 Womens, which is in their freeride category. It's a great waist width with the 84 underfoot.  So, a little bit more abrupt of a taper angle in the tip and a little bit more of an abrupt taper angle in the tail as well. A little bit less rocker than we see in the M Pro 90 and 99, but there's still some nice tip and tail rocker, a little bit more in the tip than you get in the tail. Now, this ski is going to be a fantastic choice for what I would like to call kind of a developing all-mountain skier. So, maybe you've been skiing something that has more of a dedicated on-trail shape in the past

 You know, it's still 84 underfoot, so still like a little bit too much for a beginner or a timid intermediate per se, but pretty much everybody else is going to have no problem skiing this ski. And the benefit that it provides is this shape is much more versatile than most skis we see in this width range and this price range too. So, if you're skiing your local resort, this is the type of ski that you can take literally anywhere on the mountain and you're going to feel pretty much right at home. Maybe a little bit narrow for really deep snow conditions, but this shape with the taper angle and the tip and tail, it gives the ski a very maneuverable feel

So, it's just a poplar wood core, fiberglass laminate, pretty straightforward build, but you get a really cool shape still.
