 Now before jumping into this review, if you do have Instagram I'd very much appreciate a follow, it's at totally dubbed, it'll be on your screen right now and also yes in that fabled description box. So now let's get onto the review. First off, a quick note about what you get in the package. You've got this pretty sleek remote control which essentially allows you to mute your music, power on or off the speakers, switch between four different EQs, so that is monitor, dynamic, classic and vocal and I'll showcase this in my sound demo later down in the review

 Again if you do adjust the treble it will become a little bit harsh and potentially a little bit sibilant but at the default setting to my ears which rolls off at around 16 kilohertz or 17 kilohertz sorry, then I found that the speakers were actually really impressive in their highs. Now as for the sound stage which is something that I'm usually really critical on with bookshelf speakers, specifically ones which are you know around this price tag or even cheaper, these were absolutely incredible. Now don't get me wrong, they're not as wide or as deep sounding so to speak as the S3000 Pro which are truly mind-blowing in terms of their sound stage reproduction but they are physically bigger. With that physical size kind of reducing, even the driver size actually reducing as well, it's no surprise to hear that the sound stage is a little bit more closed sounding

 Now these speakers are cheaper than the S3k, they're basically £430 in the UK and around $400, so around £150 to £200 cheaper or dollars cheaper depending on your region. Now if you're interested in buying the S2000 Pro Mk3, the link in the description below, the locally link will take you to your localised Amazon store.  So you can connect up to your phone and I had no issues there connecting up via my Samsung Galaxy S10+. In terms of other connectivity, you've got two RCA inputs, you've got optical and digital coaxial. Unfortunately, very much like the S3000 Pro, there is no subwoofer output. Now there might be workarounds for you doing via the RCA inputs and treating that as like an output but ultimately there is no dedicated subwoofer output and that's quite a shame to be honest with you

I'm looking for a new pair of Bookshelf speakers, and in this Pandemic you can't go out to the stores to actually listen to a pair of speakers, not that there's any stores that would have speakers stocked and setup in my town. 

I have a budget of $500-$600 USD and I want to get a pair of Bookshelves for my TV/Computer setup. I have a giant desk and room for stands, so I'm not worried about size, and they don't have to be shielded or powered because I have an amp and they're not near components.

 I'm open to any and all ideas. Thanks!

If you had $500-$600 to spend on Bookshelf Speakers, what would you buy?

 Just do not believe the reviews that praise the sound quality and say these sound as if they're significantly more expensive, or that they're better than any other options in the price range. I would certainly not be willing to pay more than $400 for them personally. In fact, I plan on returning them.

 They're a better option than a soundbar if you're looking for something simple to set up with your TV. Though if you know what you're doing or are willing to spend a bit more time looking around, you can build a much better hifi setup with passive speakers and a receiver for less money than this. These are FAR from Audiophile Grade and they have no right to include that word in the description. They are rather fatiguing to listen to, they're lacking in clarity, and they're somewhat tinny

 They always sound a bit muddied regardless of the presence of bass, the distance they are from the wall and their settings. In addition to this, the bass is incredibly artificial. The soundstage is quite poor. You cannot pretend for a second that you are not simply listening to a couple of bookshelf speakers with these

The JBL 550P at $189 is a great deal sub for a bedroom. I definitely grab that while you're thinking about what speakers to go along with it. JBL's sale might not last too long.

I'd also like to get some good speakers as well. I'm in my bedroom so the square footage is pretty small. Do you guys have any recommendations for a good speaker/sub combo? Looking for a good speaker/sub combo that can connect to my PC for under $500

 But at what cost? Do you just want to hear thuds in your music or do you actually want to hear the intracacies of each song and hear the bass and the highs blend well together? Overall, these speakers are perfectly ok. If I couldn't afford the PSBs, I would have kept these. Up to you how you want to spend your money and how you want your music to sound.

 These were a good balance of price and sound quality, or so I thought. Surely with all these amazing reviews, I couldn't go wrong, right?? Well, here's what I will say. The bass is definitely boomy. But it is more of a thud with no depth to the different intricacies of the bass which in a good sound system, blends with the highs together in harmony (the way music is supposed to sound)

But to the more discerning listener (again, I'm not an audiophile, but I noticed this right away), it will leave you disappointed. I ended up returning these and spending a little more for the PSB Alpha AM5s

Separated bass with no depth

 Here's the headline stats. Like I said, they use planomagnetic tweeters, which draw 15W RMS each, and then the 5.5-inch woofers, those draw around 50W RMS, for a total of 130W across both speakers. These are powered, they plug in via a standard 3-pin UK plug, although I'm sure if you buy them in other markets, they'll come with the associated plug from there

 That was the only mode out of the four that offered what sounded a lot more true to life and a good listening experience. Anything from dynamic classical and especially vocal emphasized the higher notes far too much for my liking and made for a, well, less than ideal listening experience for me personally. I should make it clear that I'm no audiophile. I'm slowly being convinced of the benefits of having very high quality audio, but I'm not someone who currently anyway, I suppose cares all that much about just how pristine my listening experience is

 But like I said, I'm not really the target market. So I'll leave that one up to you. Of course, as always, I'm going to be leaving a link to these in the description down below.  I'm also not someone who likes to just sit and listen to music. I generally am listening to music in the background while doing other things. So these don't really suit me personally. If I had to go and buy some bookshelf speakers, I would be more than happy to buy the 80 pound edifier ones that are reviewed last year, because for me personally, the audio quality is good enough that especially if I'm listening to it in the background, I wouldn't be noticing much if any quality difference between those and this, whereas if you're someone who likes to sit down and actively listen to music or want the best audio experience possible, of course, these are going to be a better option than those cheap ones

I have the Edifier s2000mkiii and to me they sound pretty terrific, even at lower volumes without a sub and connectivity is very good. What surprised me is the weight of these things  (10kg each).

So I have a debut carbon evo and a schiit mani. I'm looking for active speakers in the $500 area. I'm also using these in my bedroom so space is something I'm a bit concerned about. I need suggestions.

.. and or if I want to watch TV for news while working on my computer and or pause the tv and play music on my computer.

 Manual select every time. If these would play the sound automatically like my older speakers (MS Behringers) then these would be 5/5. Wish I would have known before I bought.  One final star dropped is because I mount these speakers on the wall and the bottom has these metal stands that makes it problematic to mount them properly

 And for me, being able to stream over Spotify Premium and obviously have lossless transmission in the audio quality to these speakers to be used in the salon out here and in our garden. They are absolutely fantastic for the price. I think from when these first come out, they retailed around 450. You can now easily pick them up for between 350, 380

 New Salon in the Garden and we're going to be using these in this kind of communal beauty room to obviously use for music. So they've kindly supplied us with these.  Multiple inputs, obviously two line-ins, which is important for studio monitoring and kind of people that work in the industry. But like I said, for me, the lossless data transmission of lossless audio over the Bluetooth is absolutely fantastic.
