 I realized that I just wanted too much from a bookshelf speaker and decided to try the tower version of the Debut 2.  Going to the F6.2 from the B6.2 feels like part of my hearing has been restored

. to me the B6.2 is a strain to enjoy fully. I just don't have that problem with my Apple earpods or basic car stereo even though they aren't "high end"

  Feels like B6.2 at least needs a sub to mitigate the bass port chuffing and bring out the midrange but not sure it really stands on its own. I really think needing a sub negates the space saving of bookshelves since the towers take up same space as bookshelves on stands and let you get by without a sub.

Returned this - got the F6.2 instead

 So I guess Jack Ryan won't sound badly on these when it comes to height effects; the music. however, no, not so much.  What's wonderful if you buy from Amazon, like I did, you can return them if you don't like them. This is why I love Amazon!  If these are the best that's out there--at least they're not bright--think of it this way

Although the ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2 Bookshelf Speakers have received fanatical praise in the media, I shall be a dissenting voice. In theory, they should sound great

 Of course, I use the Boeing 737 Max as a metaphor for high tech design versus old fashioned, careful, passionate thought.  The Elac is the 737 Max of loudspeakers. I hate to think how bad most other currently manufactured loudspeakers are for the rave reviews, especially by customers. I don't completely hate it, but the Elac is pretty pathetic

  It arrived yesterday. Packaging was good. The pair has some weight and construction was also good. I quickly set it up in my office

 But a minimum of 72 hour of break in period is absolutely necessary. The most drastic change came within the first 4 hours. The initial congested and heavy nasal sound is mostly gone, but still could be detected for some music if I looked for it. In terms of sound stage, it is a little more forward than my main system

This is due entirely of speakers because the DAC and amp have been tested in my main system and they didn't move the sound stage much. The treble is much better than my previous pair of speakers and that was the primary reason for finding a replacement

 Mid tone is just a tad more pronounced. Given the price and the generous return policy, I will let it run for a while before making a final decision.  From an absolute stand point, this pair is no match for my main speakers, which is not surprising since they are 10X more expensive. But from a value stand point, they are pretty good for this price range

Great value

 Great low end, very full and slightly warm sounding. The mids and highs sounded a little muffled on these speakers. These were very comforting to listen to, and with the right music they would be great speakers. Not my pick for home theater use

  Would recommend listening to these before committing. They have a distinct sound signature that you might love or hate.

I bought these speakers for a home theater/music listening dual purpose. I compared with 2 other budget speakers. I'm not a high end audiophile. I don't have scientific test equipment or decibel meters and I wasn't looking at the frequency curve, just listening to audio and comparing

 My testing helper loved these speakers and I hated them. They seemed polarizing if you like the sound signature or not.  Infinity: The winners. Got these on sale for basically the same price as the Jamos

Comparing Budget Speakers

Size wise ELAC Debut B6.2(375 mm×195 mm×268mm) is the max I can manage on the table, but I don't want small desktop speakers also. * I'm pretty sure I will later add a subwoofer as I'm kind of of a basshead. * I use them mostly for music, as the moment I step home they will start playing till I go to sleep and I think all speakers can handle games and movies

. and I have no idea how they are as accredited as they are unless there is something major missing in my system. The sound was very muffled, like infuriatingly so in both the mids and high. Like drums, snares, rifts and vocals all suffered, almost like they had a bag over them, the only thing coming through clear was the bass

 I had them on a record shelf that was kinda cheap and wasn’t solid, now they are on a solid wood dresser. Some complaints I still have with them, the tweeters aren’t the most crisp, like snares on drums are weak and a little muddy when being played, might be something can be fixed with placement. The mids now are fantastic and really bring out vocals, sounds great to listen to Joni Mitchell. The bass now, it’s good, but it probs could benefit greatly from a subwoofer, especially for drum heavy tracks

Update 6/28 I was going to return these, and then I put them into a different room as like I cant believe the reviews with how garbage they sound. They sound fantastic in the new space, like absolutely fantastic. I’ve played with them since and here are my thoughts. Make sure they are away from the wall, if too close they loose their mids and treble and the bass takes over causing the complaints that I had

 The imaging is also great, they went from sounding like a flat wall to giving you some depth. I’m going to keep these and changing the review from 2 stars to a “4.5”.  Old review So I've been running these guys consistently over the weekend (about 48 solid hours for break in) off of a Yamaha as501 integrated amplifier that has 85 watts rms and a maximum output of 140 wpc
