Picked up the klipsch r-41m for $90 on amazon, loving them!

Been waiting for the Emotiva B1+ to come back in stock so I could give my old Dayton MK402x to my wife for her setup. I got tired of waiting and bought the Elac debut B6 (original) instead and promptly returned them. To big and sounded like garbage to my ears, at least in a nearfield setup. Saw the sale on these and decided to pick them up and see what the deal is with klipsch.

Is KEF Q150 is the most popular speaker under $500

They don’t have much low bass extension (significantly less than the larger Q350). If you are considering those and you’re in the US, I would also advise that you consider the Emotiva B1+, the Q’s you mentioned, the Elac B5.2, the PSB Alpha P5, the Jamo C93 II, and the Wharfedale Diamond 225 (while they’re still available) as options.

Finally upgraded to passive

Finally upgraded from a pair of Edifier 1700BT to a set of Emotiva B1+ with an Aiyima A07. I loved the Edifiers but these are noticeably more detailed and have a much wider soundstage.

Best bookshelf speakers under $200?

Compared them to the Neumi B5’s (a very solid budget pick), the Elac Debut 5.2 and the Emotiva B1+. I am ready to sell them. They sound a bit thin.

Sub $300 speaker advice

The best under $300 right now are the JBL Studio 530 on sale for $240, Wharfedale Diamond 220 for $250, and Emotiva B1+ for $300. I would not recommend trying to squeeze an amp upgrade into this budget, unless you’re currently having to run the SA-50 high enough that you’re hearing distortion. If you *are* getting distortion from it… the Aiyima A04 is a very similar amp, but based on a more recent generation of amplifier chip.
