Never again. I have some old family photos I want to print. I'd prefer inkjet, not laser, for a better finish.

I bought this without much research because I needed something fast. My main goal was to find a machine that didn't require ink that would break the bank. Our last Epson only lasted 4 years and we spent over $1500 on ink although the initial cost was less than $500. Figured it might be worth spending more up front than paying a small fortune in the long run

Slow for the money

The ink lasts forever. I've had mine for two years using it to run my business and do school work and still haven't had to refill it. Never had a single problem or error message. Great machine

TLDR:  I’m looking for a great printer to suit the needs for a very small business and family. 


I run an online sales business from home.  I have a fabulous thermal printer for shipping labels. However, I’m looking to get a buy it for life all in one printer as well.  

I live in the desert and don’t print very often.  I can go weeks without using the main printer but when I need it, I need it to work. I used to have an inkjet and the cartridges were constantly drying out between uses.  I did enjoy the quality of photo printing though. 

Currently I have a Samsung color laser all in one printer.  I hate this printer.  If the yellow toner is out, it won’t let me print black and white.  Lately it’s been telling me some canister needs to be replaced but I can type in some numbers and it resets and suddenly works again.  The color printing quality is garbage and the programming on it makes me furious.   I never would have bought this printer had I known how much it tries to force repairs and toner purchases. 

I’m so frustrated with the Samsung printer I’m ready to buy a new one.  I would love something with the photo printing quality of an inkjet but ink that lasts like a laser.  I like the convenience of having the built in sheet fed scanner/copier but if the printer has wifi I can deal without it.  I would like if the printer could print on both sides without me interrupting it.   I want a printer that doesn’t “pretend” it can’t work unless it’s actually broken.   I’m willing to spend money to not have to purchase another printer again any time soon.  

So.  Who’s in love with their printer?

I’m looking to get my wife a good color printer for Xmas that prints on vinyl, so she can create her own custom stickers.

However there’s so much terrible info out there on the googles, that I’m not sure where to start!! 

I’ve seen some printers that are recommended that once you look into it, only print from their app (like some Canon printers), and others look like they break within months :/

I’m essentially looking for advice: 

-	what kind of printer is the best for printing vinyl from a Cricut? 
-	what sort of vinyl sheets should I be looking for?

Toner cartridges for colour laser printers are extremely expensive while ink bottles for tank printers like the Epson Ecotank ET-5800 are extremely inexpensive.

Ink cartridges are so expensive especially when printing a lot of web pages and documents at home in both colors and B&amp;W with previous HP OfficeJet Pros (8600 and 8028e). Also, copying, scanning, and faxing through old fashion phone lines. Do toners last longer? Are laser ones any better even though they cost more?

Time to for an one in one color laser printer instead of inkjet?

   Had some cheap paper and had problems with the printer bending the paper corners.  Replaced it with better paper and it is no longer an issue.  A bit slower first page print than I would like, but not a problem.  Don't believe the print quality is quite as good as my HP, but acceptable

  Printer seems to require print quality maintenance more often than with my other printers as colors like red see to not always be consistent.  Run quick maintenance and it is fine.  Overall so far, so good.

  Just pay attention and follow the instructions.   Ink is easy to use and expect my ink costs to drop significantly.   Had some cheap paper and had problems with the printer bending the paper corners.  Replaced it with better paper and it is no longer an issue
