Epson Expression Photo HD XP-15000

I work a second job for a non-profit that puzzlingly loves to print marketing materials in house. I have two printers that do most of our heavy lifting and they function pretty much on the opposite end of the performance spectrum: a Canon imagegrafPRO Pro-300 and an Epson XP-15000. The Epson’s quality is obviously lesser than the Canon - but I love how fast it prints 8.5” x 11” compared to the Canon, which is painfully slow (even when I adjust the settings).

I'm not an expert, but I think you want pigment inks if you are going to want waterproof. I think you can spray a coating on dye ink to make it waterproof, but I haven't found a good spray for it. I use an Epson XP-15000 and I really like it, it prints up to 13x19 and the color reproduction is amazing for photos.

I can't really find anything decent within this tight a budget that is actually rated to produce long-life prints. The best I can do is the Epson Expression Photo HD XP-15000; while print quality is very good on this machine, you're going to need to step up to something higher-end for lower running costs and better print longevity. You might want to consider the Epson SureColor SC-P700 or SC-P900. But if you're actually printing somewhere close to 500 pages per month, most or all of which are large fine-art prints, you need to go further up the product stack and look at something like the SC-P5000.
