 YMMV. The blade is typical ROWAN, thick and solid.. I still don't get the Powder coat

.. Anyone see the problem there? Blade is indestructable as far as I have seen and will cut you out of a car if need be.

 They are like gripping a slippery hard piece of plastic. I have micarta handles on my other knives and am considering purchasing micarta handles for this ESEE 4 and ditching these 3D handles. These handles feel slippery to me leave a lot to be desired.

I have several ESEE knives and think they are great quality, good steel, hold an edge well, pretty much everything you could hope for in a working knife. My particular beef with the version I got here is these new 3D handles. They are like gripping a slippery hard piece of plastic. I have micarta handles on my other knives and am considering purchasing micarta handles for this ESEE 4 and ditching these 3D handles

Awesome knife but the 3D handles are iffy

 The blade is way to soft. I put a good edge on it and had to resharpen after cutting one onion and two green peppers on a nylon cutting board. The handle on the Esee 4 is ridiculously short. The sheath is fair, but for the price, it should be awesome

Not thrilled

 I love my ESSE 5 and have used it in the field a lot. Wanted the 4 for the smaller and lighter size, but just not for me. I just dont seem to be able to get a solid grip on it. My kershaw shuffle, as seen in pics, fits my hand a lot better despite its size

The ESSE 5 feels solid in my hand, but the ESSE 4 just feels like it will slip. Cut myself on it already but that was probably more me, plus not used it long enough to do that lol

Great knife, just doesnt feel right...

 I have a couple of other Esse 4's, and this one arrived with a less than perfect grind, (I worked on it a bit, and it is fine now) unlike the other 4's that I have which looked perfect when they arrived. Nevertheless, I am still satisfied with this knife. The blade length, scratches an itch with many of the uses I have for a knife. It's a little thick perhaps for a 4 inch blade, but still recommended!

Mostly good

The knife is awesome. My elbow kept hitting the pommel while sheathed on my belt. So I added a scrap of peat hand now it’s more ergonomic and I’m not hitting my elbow. I have used the blade for more than cutting and it has held up remarkably well

The handle is short and does not sit well in my hand. It more like for 3 fingers hold then 4. It is also hard and slippery plastic.

 So you could say that it's as small as it can be. And I like that.  This is not a cheap knife. You can see and feel its quality

 I don't intend to use it, but have to assume I'm paying for a potential replacement, so that's just a cost increase for me.  Overall I suspect there are cheaper knives that would do what I'm looking for, but I like the this one for the price and features. It's also nice to know I could solve the handle size issue after market for another $50. But that makes this knife very expensive, and it works well for me as it is
