Exped Synmat HL MW

It works great in 3-season Colorado where the temperatures are rather predictable. Thermarest Neoair Xlite Women's -> Exped Synmat HL MW. I was tired of the crinkly noise and limited width of the neoair, so I jumped to exped for the vertical baffles and extra width! Definitely heavier and less warm, but it's way more comfortable IMO.

If the hips do not hurt at home on a mattress in a bed, then the solution is to make the sleep situation similar to the home situation. The Exped Synmat HL MW weighs less than ThermaRest NeoAir Xlite RW, but the Exped is 3.5" in height when I measure it next to a 2.8" high Exped Airmat. Both Exped pads are thicker than the Thermarest NeoAir inflatable pads.

It's like trying to get to sleep on an ice-rink. The silicone is one way to stop it. Putting a thin foam pad under the XLite is another way. Because I prefer a bag to a quilt I ultimately just replaced my XLite with an Exped Synmat which is grippy and I sleep sooooo much better now, and don't have to bring any extra foam or leave blobs of silicon on my gear which collect dirt.

I have used the Exped SynMat HL Winter MW (stated R=5.2) many nights all below freezing and into the teens (F). (I put a CCF 1/8" thinlite under my pad, too.) It has kept me warm.
