I’ve been playing guitar for about three or four months now, and I’ve been wanting to upgrade my amplifier. I currently own a Blackstar Fly, but since I’m getting more serious about guitar, I have been looking into upgrading. I’ve been interested in tube amps lately, so I’ve had my eye on the Fender Blues Junior IV. Before that however I was looking at the Boss Katana.

Fender drive channels can be underwhelming but you can get all the dirt you need from pedals and nothing takes pedals better than a Fender amp. The Blues Junior would be a decent choice if you must have a tube amp but if you are fine with solid state (which I personally prefer because I run the amp clean and don’t want to destroy my ears with too much volume) the Champion 40 and Champion 100 would give you plenty of volume and bigger speakers to heighten your tone while staying well within your budget.

The vox ac15 is a gorgeous amp and takes pedals really well. As a lot of comments mention, the fender blues junior and the marshall dsl20 are also great options. It all depends on who you wanna sound like most, but at the end of the day all are gonna give you a great clean and a crunchy overdrive if you want. Just see what your favorite artists play through, but you can’t go wrong with marshall fender or vox.
