 After having properly programmed the VESC, the remote is ready to be used, and you can hold down the power switch until the remote buzzes and turns on. The exciting part of this remote is all of the amazing features that it includes, starting with the battery indication for the board on the remote's display. There are four LED lights you'll notice, and each of them corresponds to 25% of the battery. You'll see them lined up against the skateboard icon

 There's also an icon to show how much connection you have right there, and there's also an icon to show how much battery your remote has on the bottom. Another exciting feature that this board has is the reverse mode. Reverse mode can be activated by holding the trigger all the way back and then pressing the change settings button. You then should be ready to go in reverse

 Four for the board's battery, one for the connection, and one for the battery of the controller. Compared to our previous favorite, the Inertia Nano X, the VX1 fares quite differently. The Nano X is a very small and compact remote, whereas the VX1 is actually slightly larger than we anticipated. We actually find the VX1 to be our new favorite, as it doesn't feel cheap and plastic, like our other DIY remotes

 It's the best remote in the world. It's the best eSkate remote we've ever tried. And with that, this marks the end of our video. Thank you guys so much for watching

Flipsky VX1 Controller Review

Recommended remotes: Hoyt Puck, mini remote (add "esk8" to the search so you'll find the right one), flipsky vx1, though there was one version having problems, it was either the latest batch of vx1 or the vx1 pro. Vx2,vx3 and currently vx4 i would not recommend. Puck and Mini are my go-tos.

Hi all. I have a Raptor 2 (got like the 14th one or something). The nano x controller has completely pooped out on me. Won't hold a charge and won't connect to the board. Looking to replace it. Been a while since I have kept up with what is the latest in the estate world. What is the recommendation? I saw a YouTube video of a guy who replaced it with a flipsky remote. Are those any good? 

Also, what version of VESC is the raptor 2? (Not 2.1). I can't find it anywhere.  Thanks!

Replacement Remote for Raptor 2

Great remote for my skateboard. Long battery life, lightweight, and easy to use. Customer service is great. Using pwm signal from this receiver into custom flashed hoverboard hardware

 This was a problem I experienced with the VX2 from a few years back. Another new feature in this remote is the battery indicator will now have a range from 6 to 25S, as where the original VX1 only went up to 12S. Another noted upgrade is the remote's internal antenna. Instead of a loose wire, there is a shielded antenna module that matches the look of the receiver

 This should improve the signal strength and help with any interference also. I was however disappointed to notice the remote still using micro USB instead of the USB-C like we are all getting used to seeing as a standard. Along with that, the new remote uses the same 850mAh battery as the original VX1, seeing no real improvement over its lifetime. In the near future I'll be doing a real world battery life test and a signal distance test on a new street board

 Another noted upgrade is the remote's internal antenna. Instead of a loose wire, there is a shielded antenna module that matches the look of the receiver. This should improve the signal strength and help with any interference also.  It has that industry standard smooth finish and the nice updated blue sticker on the back. Everything else seems to be the same, including the controls and the indicator lights. Flipsky claims that the remote has a range of around 100 meters, which is a major difference from the original VX1, coming in at a short 20 meters. This just goes to show the major signal strength improvements that should help with any interference or cutouts

FLIPSKY VX1 Pro Esk8 Remote Review

I'm a casual esk8ing dad. I have an Evolve GTR Bamboo that I love and I recently took delivery on a LaCroix Lonestar, which is sick and totally worth the money.

But the fucking Hoyt Puck ruins it. What a piece of shit. My specific gripes after 200 miles of riding:

* Compared to the GTR remote, the functionality of the puck is bullshit. What kind of remote doesn't show battery life of the remote or of the board? On the Lonestar, it's possible to get stranded 20 miles from your car if you don't keep an eye on the battery and it's too heavy to carry very far if it does die, so you have to ditch it somewhere which feels bad.
* My thumb starts to hurt after the first 2 hours. Never had this problem with trigger remotes.
* While using the dial to accelerate feels natural, using the break while going down twisty offroad trails feels very awkward.
* The puck is too small for my hands and I'm only 6'2". To decelerate I need to monkey grip it which sucks.
* The GTR remote and the puck at both cheap plastic (because they are). Would love to pair my $4000 skateboard with a remote that feels nice to hold. 
* Miss the speedometer that the GTR remote has.

Can this thing fucking die so I can get a good remote on my next LaCroix board. No one should make puck remotes. They suck.

Unpopular Opinion: The Hoyt Puck is a POS

 what I've done today is I've purchased a new one from Flip Sky. Now this one is a dual V Esc which will allow me to upgrade my Wowgo! Now if you've watched my channel previously. I did upgrade one of my Wowgos, but I bought two separate Esc's and actually I never wrote it since because it was such a really disgusting, uh execution that I just, you know I didn't trust it. I just always thought it would catch fire from just writing it because there was just no space

 Obviously we have two so we're gonna have to do this to both sides and I will have to cut this heat shrink off and possibly design some 3d printed part for this to keep it secure. The remote's really nice. It does have haptic feedback. I just received them like an hour ago and I've been waiting forever to get these because they've been stuck in customs and I'm really excited to get my other board running

 And not only that, you can you know increase your batteries the voltage? So instead of a 10s because those will usually come at 10s, you can upgrade to 11s 12s. I think this is a maximum of 12s but I could be wrong. I'll have everything linked down below if you want to go and check those out. Yeah, this is a Flip Sky dual Esc and this is the Flip Sky Remote Vx1 so it's really nice

 Lacroix we’re very useless and told me to just buy a Hoyt puck instead!. I can only currently use a RC car remote on PWM.

My new board is having problems with the remote, VX1 was working fine connected to UART on my stormcore 60d then randomly stopped working.  To check the battery level of the remote double tap the same button like this. The top signal light will disappear and the four middle LEDs will indicate the battery level of the remote. After 2 seconds the remote will go exit remote battery menu. To pair turn the remote on

 So we want all 4L LEDs blinking. Press the left button to select your skateboard battery S value. To finish setting and exit this menu then press the left button again for 2 seconds. The remote has 3 speed modes

 This is what some people call, battle hardening. To turn it on simply press the button on the right. To check the battery level of the remote double tap the same button like this. The top signal light will disappear and the four middle LEDs will indicate the battery level of the remote
