 However, I found them really hard to use with muscle memory. The focus rings on both lenses use an electronic acceleration curve with a significant delay instead of the 1 to 1 operation of manual lenses, when pulling focus and autofocus isn't useful beyond very basic video work, which means I was leaning on my manual lenses during my testing. A lot you cannot punch them to check your focus while rolling on the camera, which is a total drag when you're relying on such a small display all is not lost, though, if you're a video shooter, you can get a cheap manual adapter that you lets. You use various manual glass on the XP too, but for those of you who have electronic stills glass, like myself, you're out of luck since there is no electronic adapter currently available, which leads me into my conclusion

 So in camera you can shoot up to 4k at 30fps or at 1080p up to 60fps, and while the video mode does not manage to feel like an afterthought, I do have a few grush with it, the first being that shooting directly to the SD card. The FT 2 can only shoot in one of its film simulation profiles which, by themselves look fine but limit your overall dynamic range and your flexibility in post Fuji has taken the time to make their own F log profile. But you can only use it with an external recorder. The epilogue footage comes out noticeably softer than the in-camera footage, but you can add sharpening in post to balance that out and you are left with an image that has better overall highlight retention compared to the internal files shot to the SD card

 We find the dual SD card slots, a must-have for many working photographers, then, on the left of the camera. We have the mic in USB three micro HDMI and a remote port. Finally, on the rear of the camera, we have a new 3-inch LCD and a fairly standard menu navigation, quick function, button layout with the standout being Fugees addition of a joystick which allows you to select focus points very quickly, Fuji's approach of having a physical dial for Every major exposure setting for the camera is one of these strongest aspects of their design, no need to use a modifier button or go through a menu, and they can be locked which, combined with the manual aperture ring on most XF lenses, gives you a very satisfying Tactile experience when shooting there is a level of precision that I can't quite put into words with this camera. Now I've never felt with any other DSLR

Then there are the physical controls that photo nerds love. Fujifilm has altered the locking mechanism for the shutter speed and ISO dials, making it way simpler to adjust those settings on the fly. You just press once to unlock, and again to lock in your current selection to prevent it from accidentally being changed during shooting. Fujifilm again gives users six function buttons, plus dedicated autoexposure and autofocus buttons

Absent is the video record button that was on the X-T1; since the X-T2 is capable of 4K recording, video has earned its own spot on the drive dial. And the Wi-Fi button has been repurposed, so you’ll need to assign that to a function key if you frequently transfer images directly to your smartphone for Instagramming, like I do. Fujifilm’s smartphone app, available for Android and iOS, works just as reliably here as with the X-T1, though I’ve noticed that sending photos over to my iPhone 7 is much slower than before — perhaps because of the larger file sizes. The phenomenal multi-directional focus stick has been brought over from the X-Pro 2, placed right where your thumb naturally wanders

 Still, if you’re buying the X-T2, it’s worth spending the extra $300 for the 18-55 lens. Native ISO now ranges up to 12,800, and the maximum mechanical shutter speed has jumped to 1/8000sec compared to the 1/4000 ceiling the X-T1 had.

 The X-T2 offers surprisingly strong video features, like the ability to shoot ungraded, flat F-Log footage. But even if Fujifilm is getting more serious about video, it’ll take a lot to draw people away from companies like Sony and Panasonic, who’ve focused on video for years. This is still a camera that most buyers will use predominantly for stills.

Refinements that make for a fantastic upgrade

 There's no in-body stabilization, so if you're working with a lens that doesn't include its own stabilization system, you'll find that handheld footage is noticeably shaky.

 The X-T2 is one of the best APS-C format digital cameras for shooting at the high sensitivities you'll use in dim lighting.

 You can shoot the X-T2 through ISO 1600 without experiencing any noticeable loss of image fidelity. At ISO 3200 some slight smudging of fine detail is visible, and just a bit more blur is visible at ISO 6400. There's a little bit more blur at ISO 12800, but it's not detrimental. ISO 25600 is just a little bit softer, but I'd still feel comfortable using the camera at that extreme when shooting JPGs

Fujifilm X-T2 Review

 In my move to mirrorless, it was simply easier to get a great set of lenses at less cost with the Fuji system than I could if I chose Sony (all of these decisions were made prior to Nikon announcing the Z7 and Z6...I got tired of waiting for Nikon)

 I need to learn more about Capture One though.  The biggest negative for shooting Fuji is the ISO performance and its effect on image quality. I say this from the perspective of having shot full frame for years. Shooting outdoor in bright sunlight isn’t much of an issue

 With Fuji’s OIS, I have dropped the shutter to 200. I plan to start shooting at slower shutter speeds until I find the sweet spot where my hand shake does not affect the image.  Overall, I would buy this camera again. Actually, at this point, I’d buy the X-T3 for a little bit more money

 Like I said, I am happy with this camera, but in some ways, you just cannot beat full-frame for image quality. But, because it is a crop sensor, the cost of lenses are one of the factors that drew me to the system. Love Hate Relationship with Fuji (Mostly Love)

 the autofocus is fast, although I had a problem figuring out that in some lenses like the 16mm and 23mm in order for you to use autofocus is necessary to pull up the focusing ring in order to enable autofocus in those lenses, is not enough to select the the autofocus switch in the camera body. 2. The color rendering is quite nice, the colors do pop up nicely 3. the handling is really nice since it is a smaller set up, when I am just walking around making street shots is nice to have this camera, is lighter, and smaller therefore it doesnt intimidate so much people or subjects around you

 So after a lot of research I opted for smaller mirrorless setup which can allow me to travel lighter, and the XT2 was the perfect choice. I purchase the camera all together with the 16mm f1.4, 23mm f1.4 and 56mm f1

 Although most reviewers do not comment about it is video qualities I must say it is does make impressive videos. It is outstanding for landscape photography and wildlife photography. I do not use it take photographs of people or events so I cannot comment on that. In terms of weather situations, it did very well in hot Indian weather and can handle a drizzle without a problem

This is an amazing camera in every way but the repair costs. The image quality is outstanding and so is the autofocus. Although most reviewers do not comment about it is video qualities I must say it is does make impressive videos. It is outstanding for landscape photography and wildlife photography

 My main gripe is the cost of repairs. About 2 years of regular use, never dropped it, the lens seating was off. The repair cost quoted by Fujifilm was nearly $500 and similarly a Fuji xf100-400mm lens repair was nearly $450. The service was also very slow requiring multiple calls although the staff were very professional and helpful when you call them

Good Camera but...

)  - SUPERB FUJI IMAGE PROCESSING: The D750 is so powerful I can get it to make just about any image I need; however, virtually every image requires some post-processing in Lightroom/Photoshop to get it looking its best. That's not really a problem when I'm shooting a subject for a specific marketing purpose and effect, but when it comes to family photos (i.e., the gazillion candids I snap of our kids) it means I have to spend exponentially more time on post-processing/editing to get the images looking the way I like them

  At work, I use a Nikon D750 full frame DSLR. That camera is amazing and can virtually see in the dark when paired with Nikon's pro-grade lenses. However, it is also heavy and cumbersome. I don't mind toting it around for a couple of hours to grab photo/video content for marketing, but it's the kind of camera that never lets you forget you're "on the job," as you work around its intrusive size and heft

 While it sounds like a fine lens, the images I reviewed from the 35mm just looked better to me and it offers a faster aperture and weather sealing. I was hesitant about switching to a prime, especially with only one lens as I switch to the Fuji system; however, after quite awhile, I have NEVER ONCE regretted this decision. The 35mm f/2 (~50mm equivalent) is remarkable versatile, and compared with the wider 23mm f/2 (which is also quite good, per images I reviewed) it never struggles to fill the frame with people if that's your goal. The 35mm can get good and close, yet is relatively easy to back up for wider shots that give a sense of place/environment

 I think the better deal is to buy an X-T2 body plus the 35mm f/2 XF WR lens. You end up with a very portable powerhouse of a camera that is all I have needed to get outstanding variety and quality of images on family outings.  That's my review and random thoughts as someone who has a D750 and lots of lenses for work, has used an LX100 for personal family shots for the past two years, and now owns an X-T2 with the 35mm f/2 lens. I hope this review was helpful!

Pure joy... I prefer it over the X-T20 and even my Nikon D750! Get the Body + 35mm f/2 lens!

 Is it a full frame or a medium-format camera? No. But for someone like me, that does not matter. What DOES matter is that I can take photos with this camera that were never before possible, and that routinely possess the “wow factor." And there is plenty of room to tinker with those photos later on--even if shooting in jpg-- because of the high megapixel sensor, if you choose to do that

 It’s fast. It’s highly customizable, yet will turn out fantastic shots in full auto mode. It opens you up to a series of Fuji lenses that are endlessly compared to Leica and Zeiss lenses at three times their price (or more). It’s made in Japan, and feels like it

 Comfortable grip. A truly tremendous set of lenses to select from. Customizable buttons (six of them, actually). A viewfinder that makes you think you are using a glass prism, but also includes all the shooting data I on it

  You can read all about the details of the camera’s specifications nearly anywhere (and be careful, information overload is a real danger here), but I won’t do that here. What I WILL do is tell you that this is a magnificent camera that can take amazing photos. Is it a full frame or a medium-format camera? No. But for someone like me, that does not matter

Limit this to "Five Stars?" That's Absurd.

 And they definitely do not disappoint. I'm particularly fond of the "Classic Chrome" simulation; its soft and muted tones makes images so pleasing to look at. I generally will color correct images on my own, but I've been surprised at how many images are shareable right out of the camera. Especially for random outings and trips, this is such a welcome feature

While I don't know if the XT-2's focus system beats out other mirrorless cameras (it might, I just haven't done the research), I can say with certainty that it's light years ahead of any DSLR I've shot with. DSLR cameras use what's called phase detection autofocus, while mirrorless systems use what's called contrast detection autofocus. What's the difference? Phase detection is generally a little faster, but it has one huge drawback: it can be pretty inaccurate
