Most youtube reviews are scared to mention air cooler fitment and compatibility when it comes to these z690 itx motherboards. I tested a few of the coolers I had on hand on this Gigabyte z690i and nothing will fit without removing the huge and very unnecessary large heatsink. There's also very limited space for an AIO as well. It don't look like alot of the current AIO will fit either

12th gen itx motherboards will be difficult for the SFF community

 I'm definitely more of a gamer than a creative (though I do dabble there) but generally a mobo doesn't factor into that as much, beyond ports. So when upgrading to an i9-10850k due to good sales, I pulled the trigger on this Vision G board as it was gorgeous and seemed full featured for the price. And now I'm exchanging it.  The main issues here, which aren't mentioned anywhere on Amazon, and I found hard to find even on Gigabyte's page is that the m

 But I discount that slightly as this seems to be a common thing with z590 boards. Its not just this board/Gigabyte, and I have 3 other ports, so it should be fine right? Well, wrong. Gorgeous Mobo But Bad Design at it's Core

For me, there is no universe where an ITX board with crap cooler compatibility at that price represents a good value. Especially factoring in the early-adopter tax for DDR5. All of the boards this round are expensive, but this is just a special brand of unreasonable.

From the quick search I have done so far I have only found two options for ITX LGA 1700 boards;
- Asrock board which is DDR4 https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asrock-z690m-itx-ax-intel-z690-ddr4-mini-itx-motherboard-mb-18d-ak.html 
- ASUS board which is DDR5 https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asus-rog-strix-z690-i-gaming-wifi-intel-z690-ddr5-mini-itx-motherboard-mb-6h9-as.html
My question is are there any other options which I am missing, because it seems like I am going to have to order the £374 Asus board to pair with a new alder lake CPU? This is far from ideal not only because of the crazy price, but also could really do with another m.2 slot (gen 5 would be nice for future proofing as well). 

Beyond that though, my main concern is the power staging on the board. The 10+1 configuration is a lot less than most of the mid range full size atx boards, so wondering if this will throttle the new I9 and I7s?

Maybe I am expecting too much though, it is my first time going ITX...

Alder Lake ITX boards

 If I wanted to used XMP I could only use one stick of 16 GB. Frustratingly the latest BIOS update from Gigabyte was literally for the EXACT Gskill RAM I had, and it didn't effin work. DO NOT BUY THIS BOARD IF YOU ARE USING DDR 5 RAM. There are hours of my life that I want back

 I could only use RAM slots B1 & B2. This of course is a non-optimal pairing, but what can you do.  I am going lay this out really clearly, none of these boards seems to be handling the new DDR5 ram. Read all the reviews you want on youtube or Tom's hardware, none of them will mention this

However if you google "Z690 DDR5 RAM Not Posting" , you will find many posts all pointingto the same issue. Users are only able to get two slots working

Don buy if you are using DDR 5 RAM

 The wifi/ethernet card would also disappear occasionally, which I believe is caused by a bug in the bios. Support ticket was raised to Gigabyte but I never heard back from them.

 In summary, great price but building in smaller cases could be challenging with the inherent design of the board.

TLDR: Cheap, strange design of the NVME daughterboard & huge heatsink  I upgraded my home computer with this board and installed this into an NZXT H1 v2 case. The first and foremost concern I have is the daughterboard & ginormous heatsink for the NVME drive(s). The only way to access the onboard audio connection is to remove the NVME daughterboard and then pull out the plug/cord. It dangles freely, which is kind of a lame/poor design

I've been hearing good things about the 12600k, but right now the only mITX motherboard I can find is about $430 and I have no idea when the budget motherboards will appear. Should I just go for the ryzen equivalent or will I just be shooting my foot by locking myself to a soon dead platform?

 Gigabyte tech support should be better. If you buy this board, remember to turn the monitor on BEFORE you turn on the PC, or else it won't recognize the GPU. Also, flash the BIOS so you can get beep codes.

This is the third PC I have built with a Gigabyte MoBo. I built the first in 2009, the 2nd in 2013, and the third last week. I have heard some horror stories about Gigabyte MoBos blowing out or DOA, but the first two boards I had functioned well throughout the time I owned them. I like Gigabyte because you get a lot of features for the money, and they seem to offer a solid build quality with good materials
