 That's also why the title of this video is Godox SL60W cheap is better than perfect and by the end of the video you'll understand why so let's get right into it. The Godox SL60W is a continuous light and if you're a filmmaker or a videographer that's what you need but if you are a photographer then you still have two options strobes or continuous light. Now back in the days there used to be a lot of advantages to working with strobes but these days with technology that has improved and LED lights a lot of those advantages are not there anymore so it has become a matter of personal preference even though in some cases you do need strobes or vice versa but that's not what this video is about. I love continuous light because what you see is what you get and I can use the same light for both photography and video so for me that's the main the biggest advantage of having a light like the Godox SL60W

 It's almost perfect I'm not missing anything. Now I do have to say that I've never used the Aputure 120D so maybe that's why I like the Godox so much but I don't think so. I really think this is a great light. The color looks good the overall light quality is excellent

 Now I always use a remote control so I've never had any problems the percentage is always correct and I didn't put this in the cons part of the video because I think it's more important that it actually has a remote and the syncing problem is not that big of a problem it is still super useful. First of all the fan is awesome it keeps the light really cool the only downside it's slightly noisy now it doesn't bother me at all maybe if I shut up for a few seconds you can hear it with headphones but I mean for that price I gladly take that little bit of noise and you can't hear it when I talk anyway. This light also doesn't have a battery you can buy the Godox SL60W with a power cable and if you want a battery you need the Godox SLB60W but that one only comes with a battery so I mean but you know what if you buy both then it will still be cheaper than buying an Aputure 120D so yeah decide for yourself and then there's the infamous flicker problem now I don't have that problem I haven't noticed anything but some people have and some people have also noticed a slight color cast purplish greenish but I also don't have that problem so I think if you want to buy the Godox SL60W I would suggest to buy it from a company where you can send it back if you have one of those problems or even better go to a place where you can try it out some places will set it up for you so you can give it a try I think there's just an inconsistency within the range it also happens when you buy camera lenses for example there can be inconsistencies some people mention that a lens is a little bit soft and then someone else buys the same lens and they say it's super sharp so make sure that if you buy one and it happens to be a bad one that you can send it back you know I don't know how many people have had these problems but I think it's just a small percentage from what I can see on YouTube and YouTube videos mine's perfect nothing wrong with it so okay guys and that's it cheap is better than perfect this is a great light for me there's no reason to buy a more expensive one this does everything I want it looks really good there are a few cons a few downsides but the price is insane so up to you what's more important perfection or 90% perfect and an insanely good price thank you so much for watching and see you in the next one

Basic video lighting setup, probably LED

Not fast shipping, but a decent light

 And in case you're wondering which light dome I use and recommend, I will link that down in the description because the one I use is half the price of an Aputure Light Dome Mk2 and functions the same exact way. So perhaps you can get your hands on one, make your life a whole lot easier because some of those other ones out there that are wicked cheap are just not super easy to break down and then set up. Now let's talk about the really important thing and that is some of the shortcomings or the issues that I've noted with this light and I'll share some of the ways I've adapted the light to work better. So there are four issues that I have noted that the Godox SL60W has and those issues would be light color accuracy, fan noise, the handle for tightening the light and the dimmableness of the light

 And with that, let's jump into some of the most important details about this light. The Godox SL60W is a 60 watt LED video light. It's daylight balanced to 5600 Kelvin, has a CRI of 93, 4500 lumens, and weighs about 3.5 pounds

 Today we're talking about the Godox SL60W, we're going to do an in-depth review, share some tips and tricks on workarounds, or ways that I've adapted this light to make it work better. Let's talk about it. So the first order of business is that this is not a sponsored video. The second thing is, I've had these lights for six months, I've used them at least 50 plus times, used them a lot, and I'm going to be sharing a lot of tips and insights in this video on how these lights work, some workarounds for some of its shortcomings, and so forth

 But let's drop it down to the lowest it can go and see how that goes. That's 10 percent. That is the lowest that the light can go. It goes pretty low

 50 percent. It's bright. This little light packs a punch. Only at 50 percent putting out some really serious light

 See how bright it gets. Okay and as you can see this is still with the soft box on. 50 percent. It's bright

 Just really easy to carry around that you're not holding it at the bottom here but you can just hold it like this when you move around. It's really practical and it's just solid. When you hold this thing it is a solid light. It just feels like you've bought something that's of good quality

Godox SL60W Review: Is It A Good Video Light?

Not a 120D killer, but a viable substitute.  Will buy again

 I'm bouncing light into it and then it's coming back through a full stop of diffusion. This setup is almost exclusively used with photo lights, but because it's a Bowens mount and it has the conventional light modifying setups, I can use it here for my video light because this is an LED with a Bowens mount. I'm telling you, this setup is awesome and again, this is a $109 light. For a budget friendly filmmaker like myself, I can't recommend it high enough

 Okay, so this is probably the most flattering light that I can get. This is a 72 inch umbrella. I'm bouncing light into it and then it's coming back through a full stop of diffusion. Godox SL-60W Review | You Need This Light!

  THE BAD: I was hoping for a little more bang. Continuous light is weaker and for real output you need either more lights or stronger lights. If you have the $$$, get 200watts or 300watts.  The percentage of strength isn’t consistent

 I mean I paid $109 for it when I found it having a light that is Is fairly bright has great CRI and has a working remote is A huge deal. It's a great that it's actually a great deal I can't think of a reason not to buy at least a couple of these lights and it's I mean, it's super bright for what it is Right now I'm gonna turn the shutter speed way up and see if we get any flickering This is We're at 1 fourth thousandth of a second and it looks pretty good So that's it. I'm here to review the Godox SL 60w It's a very nice light that you can find for around a hundred and ten to a hundred and twenty five dollars on eBay or Aliexpress I Haven't had any luck finding this on Amazon. I will have links for in the description Anyways, let's get into it. So right now I'm using it as my key light behind a softbox I've got it set up to a hundred percent and my camera settings are F 3

So right now I'm using it as my key light behind a softbox I've got it set up to a hundred percent and my camera settings are F 3.3 at 1 60th of a second shutter speed ISO 200 so it's plenty bright to be a key light and I have the I have the whole light about Five feet away from me and it does have this handy little remote Even though it's kind of slow to control the brightness It'll let you take the brightness all the way down to 25% with the remote Now you can turn the brightness all the way down to 10% using the back of the actual unit But for some reason the remote only goes down to 25% Let's go ahead and bump it back up Now another kind of strange thing is on this remote. It always says 4400 K this light is a 5600 K Temperature light so that doesn't make a lot of sense and also the remote is super sensitive

 So the CRI is somewhere in the range of 95 with this light and it does put out quite a good amount of light now some concerns about this light It does have a fan that's always running whenever it's plugged in and turned on even if you actually Turn the light off the fan will still keep running and the fan as as the unit gets a little bit hotter The fan will get slightly louder, but it doesn't get any louder than the aperture lights do Once they've been on for five minutes from what I've heard the light will shut down after it reaches 70 degrees Celsius, but I've only ever been able to get this light up to about 45 degrees Celsius So you don't have to worry about that ever happening the unit that I'm reviewing doesn't have a battery So you will have to have somewhere to plug in to use this light. However, they do sell a battery powered version That version is about three times as expensive though. It's like 300-something dollars so it's not as great of a value as the one that's just sitting here plugged into the wall So I'm going to take this light off the stand now so I can talk about it with you Let's take a look at the LED pattern on this light There we go behind a couple pieces of welding glass. You can see that this light has a kind of strange grid pattern I don't think I've ever really seen that before in one of these types of lights I don't think that really adds or detracts from the quality of the light I just thought it was really interesting and I wanted to share that with you So this Godox SL60W does come with its own reflector and it is bones mount So you can use any of your other lighting accessories that are bones mount with it
